Perry's Steakhouse And Grille....afternoon....

Catlin continues to stare across the room at Perry's after seeing Heather's mother, Connie Richardson, who bears an uncanny resemblance to his late wife, Sally Frame Ewing.  "I can't believe what I'm seeing,"  Catlin says.

"Catlin, Sally has been dead for more than 30 years,"  Donna Love says.

"I know that. But Donna, just turn around and look, and tell me that I'm not crazy or just seeing things."

Donna turns around and looks across the room and sees the woman.

"Well?  Can you honestly tell me that she doesn't look like Sally, only older.  Can you say that that isn't what Sally would probably look like today if she were alive?"

"Well, yes, the woman does look like Sally,"  Donna says.  "A lot like her, in fact.  But Catlin, it's just a coincidence.  Sally is DEAD."

"Yes.  It's a coincidence,"  Catlin says, shaken.  "But, the resemblance is........it's unreal.  Could she be a relative of Sally's?"

"Well, I suppose that's possible,"  Donna says.  "Catlin, isn't that Christopher Ewing's wife that woman is with?"

"Yes.  Courtney, Christopher's wife, and Lucas's wife Heather.  Donna, if you would excuse me, I need to find out who this woman is."

"Catlin, are you sure that's wise?"

"Wise or not, I have to know who she is."  Catlin gets up from his seat at the table and makes his way across the crowded restaurant to the women's table.  "Hello, Courtney, Heather," he says.

"Well, Catlin, hello,"  says Heather.  "How are you?"

"I'm just fine.  I was having a business lunch and I saw you ladies, and wanted to come over and say hello."

"Well, it's nice that you did,"  says Courtney.

"I don't believe that I've had the pleasure of meeting your friend,"  Catlin says, looking at Connie.

"Oh, I'm sorry,"  Heather says.  "Catlin Ewing, this is my mother, Connie Richardson."

"Your......mother?"  Catlin asks.

Connie looks at him and smiles.  "Very nice to meet you, Mr. Ewing.  I take it you're a relative of my son-in-law, Lucas?"

"Yes.  Lucas's father, Bobby, is my cousin.  It's a pleasure, Mrs. Richardson."

"My, handsome men sure do run in the Ewing family."

"Catlin, how's Sue Ellen?"  Heather asks.

"She's fine.  Well, you ladies have a nice lunch.  And, Mrs, Richardson, it was a pleasure meeting you."

"The pleasure's all mine, Mr. Ewing,"  Connie says with a smile.

Catlin nods, then walks away.

"What a HANDSOME man,"  Connie says.

"He's also a very MARRIED man, Mama, so forget whatever it is you're thinkin',"  Heather says.

Meanwhile, Catlin returns to his and Donna's table and sits down.  "Well?"  Donna asks.  "Did you find out anything, like who she is?"

"Yes.  She's Heather Ewing's mother.  But.....even her voice sounds like Sally."

Southfork....the next morning....

Bobby, Ann, Lucas, Heather, Michael, and Jacob are seated at the dining room table having breakfast the next morning when John Ross and Krystina come down the stairs and walk into the dining room.  "Good morning,"  Krystina says.

"Mornin',"  says Ann.

"Where's everybody else?"  John Ross asks, taking his usual seat at the table.  "Like Christopher and Courtney?"

"I'm sure they'll be here in a minute,"  Bobby replies.

Alex walks into the room.  "Morning, guys,"  he says.

"Morning, Alex,"  says Krystina.

"John Ross, how are things workin' out with Clay down at Ewing Oil?"  Bobby asks.

"To tell you the truth, Uncle Bobby, Clay's gettin' on my last nerve."

"Oh, how's that?"

"Oh, just by breathing, existing, ya know, that sort of thing,"  Alex replies sarcastically.

"Nobody asked for commentary from you, son,"  John Ross says.

"Well, John Ross, I want you to get along with Clay,"  says Bobby.  "After all, he's family.  He's James's son."

"Speakin' of family, how are you and your new sister Lila gettin' along these days?"  Lucas asks.

"About as well as Superman and Lex Luthor."

"John Ross, is there ANYBODY you do get along with?"  Heather asks.

"Yes there is......me,"  Krystina replies, smiling.

Christopher and Courtney walk into the dining room.  "Hi, everyone,"  Christopher says.

"Morning, son.  Courtney,"  Bobby says.  "Well, I'm glad that everybody's here, because I wanted to talk to you all about somethin'."

"Sounds serious,"  Christopher says.

"Hmm, serious, but in a good way.  Ann and I have been talkin' about this, and now that spring time is officially here and the weather's warmed up, I think it's time we had the rodeo here at Southfork.  Y'know, we wanted to do it when we had the Bar-B-Q back in November, but that was all planned on such short notice, we didn't have time."

"I think that's a great idea,"  says Lucas.

"Yeah, Grandpa, can we compete?"  Jacob asks.

"Sure, we'll have some youth events.  And since you boys are out of school on spring break this week, you can help with the planning, too."

"Wow, that'd be GREAT!"  An excited Michael says.  "We better start practicing.  Grandpa, what can we do to help?"

"Well, we'll just have to figure that out,"  Bobby says.

"I can't wait."

"Yeah, neither can I,"  says Jacob.  "I wanna enter every event."

"Well, you guys had better finish your breakfast, then go outside and start practicing roping,"  Lucas suggests.

"Dad, I think the rodeo is a great idea,"  Christopher says.

"I think so, too,"  Bobby says.  "And, in honor of Debra Lynn, I think all the proceeds from the rodeo should go to pancreatic cancer research."

"Bobby, I think that's a wonderful idea,"  says Krystina.

"When are you thinkin' on havin' the rodeo?"  John Ross asks.

"Well, how's a week from Saturday?"

"Wow, that gives us less than two weeks,"  Jacob says.

"In that case, we'd better get started today,"  says Ann.  "We have a lot to do and a little time to do it in.  We have to send out invitations, print up fliers....."

"And we need to advertise it on Facebook and Twitter,"  Alex says.

"Fine, Alex, you can be in charge of that,"  Bobby says.  "I think this is gonna be the best rodeo we ever had."

Shawn's apartment....

Shawn and Samantha are laying in Shawn's bed in his apartment that morning.  After a few moments of silently laying in each others' arms, Shawn smiles, then looks over at her.  "I think it gets better every time.  Or maybe last night was so great because you actually spent the night when me right here in my big comfy bed, and we didn't have to steal an afternoon making love on the couch in my office.  Nice change, don't ya think?"

Samantha gets out of bed, holding her hands over her bare breasts.  "It was a very nice change.  More comfortable than that couch, too."

Shawn laughs.  "I think doing business with you is just about the best decision I've made since I took over at Westar."

"Doing business with me, or.........getting into bed with me?" Samantha asks as she puts on her bra.

Shawn props himself up in bed on his elbow.  "Both,"  he replies, looking at her with a smile.

"So what exactly do you expect out of this..... arrangement we have here?" Samantha asks.

"Well, for one, I expect it to continue for the foreseeable future. I think what we have here is an arrangement that's quite beneficial to

us both, Samantha.  We have a very healthy, and fun, sexual relationship, and a business relationship that's gonna make both of our companies, and us personally, a LOT of money in the near future, and in the long run.  So, what better arrangement to have than that?  You and I are the very definition of friends with benefits.  I think we could go very far together.....as long as it's just the two of us."

"What do you mean by that?"  Samantha asks.

"These two deals that Westar and Chambers Oil are involved in,"  Shawn says.  "You know, we could BOTH be making a hell of a lot more money on them if it were just US involved."

"You mean without the rest of the Cartel involved?"

"That's exactly what I mean.  We don't need Harwood, or Lee.  The two of us can do this on our own."

"Shawn, you're talkin' about cutting the rest of the Cartel out of our deals?"  Samantha asks.  "And how do we do that?"

"I have a way.  A secret little clause in our contract that was well hidden.  It'll allow us to buy them out at half the price they paid to get into the deal."

"But, now wait a minute.  You want us to cut the Cartel out?  Just like that."

"Now don't tell me you'd have a problem with that?  Not considering all the money Chambers Oil would make on these deals if it were just you and me involved."

"Brandon and the other boys in the Cartel have been real good to me, Shawn."

"And I haven't?"  Shawn asks.  "Just think about it, Samantha.  I have a meeting in half an hour, so, I have to get a shower and get to the office.  But think about what I said."  Shawn smiles at her, then gets out of bed.  Samantha watches him as he goes into the bathroom and closes the door.  A couple of seconds later, she hears the shower water start to run, and she begins to get dressed.

Later....

As Shawn steps off the elevator in the lobby downstairs, Michelle McKinnon is getting off the elevator directly across from him and the two come face to face.

"Well, now,"  Shawn says with a smile.  "Hello, Michelle."

"Hello, Shawn."

"You're looking awfully well.  It's a surprise running into you here."

"I don't see why it should be,"  Michelle says.  "You know that Clay lives in this building."

"Oh, yes, that's right, Clay.  I'd have thought you'd have gotten bored with that guy by now.  A girl like you needs all kinds of excitement, and Clay Beaumont is about as exciting as watching ice melt."

"Clay gives me ALL the excitement I need,"  Michelle says.  "And compared to you, being with him is like an endless vacation to a beautiful tropical beach."  She starts to walk away from him.

"It'll never last, Michelle," Shawn says, his words causing her to stop and turn back to him.  He walks over to her.  "You and I had somethin' real special.  The sex between us was........out of this world, to say the least.  I remember when we use to make love, sometimes 5 or 6 times a day.  Can you honestly say that Clay gives you THAT kind of excitement."

"Oh, yes, that kind of excitement, and more.  I think mine and Clay's record is.....7 times a day,"  Michelle says with a smile.  She starts to walk away, but pauses, and looks at him again.  "Oh, and with Clay, I've never once had to fake it."  Still smiling, she walks away from him, leaving Shawn with a look of pure anger on his face.

"You're gonna be sorry for that, Michelle,"  he says.  "You and Beaumont are BOTH gonna be sorry."

Brad's new office in Dallas....

Brad's secretary buzzes his office.  "Mr. Barnes, your sister is here to see you."

"Great.  Send her in,"  Brad says.  He stands from his seat behind his desk and walks over to the door as Pamela enters the office.

"Hi,"  she says.

"Hello, there,"  Brad says, greeting her with a kiss on the cheek.  "This is a nice surprise.  What brings you down here?"

"Well, I thought it was time I stopped by and saw my brother's new office.  Very nice.  Very, VERY nice.  I'm really impressed."

Brad smiles.  "Thank you.  I love it.  This office has just about everything, including a conference table for meetings."

"Like I said, I'm impressed.  But I am surprised that the state would be so generous as to provide you with an office both here and down in Austin."

"Well, actually, the state didn't," Brad says.  "I rented this office myself."

"Really?"

"Yeah.  Since I live in Dallas, and I'm gonna be based here,  I felt like I needed an office to work out of here, and a space for meetings whenever I needed to have one in Dallas."

"Wow, this office must be costing you a pretty penny."

"Eh, it's a bit expensive, but definitely worth it,"  Brad says.  "After all, my position as head of the ORC makes me a VERY important man in this state, so, I need an office that reflects my position."

Pamela looks at him and smiles.  "I'm very proud of you, Brad.  And I know Daddy would be, too."

"Thank you, Pamela, for saying that.  It means a lot to me to hear it,"  Brad says.

Ewing Oil....

Alex knocks once on John Ross's office door, then walks in and finds John Ross on the phone, angry with the person he's speaking to.  "Frank, I'm payin' you for results, not for excuses.  If you can't get me the results I want, then I'll just pull my regular P.I. off this case I've got him on, and let him do the job you're supposed to be doin' for me. Get it done, Frank, or you'll be lookin' for another line of work.......in another state."  John Ross angrily slams the phone down.

"Wow, trouble?"  Alex asks.

"Nothin' we can't handle."

"You wanted to see me?"

"Yes.  We have got a real problem,"  John Ross says.

"What kinda problem?"

John Ross lets out a deep sigh.  "Westar has bought up yet another piece of land Ewing Oil was after.  Now we need that Murdock land down in Coke County more'n ever."

"Murdock land?"  Alex asks.

"Yeah, it's a farm down near San Angelo that sits on a VERY rich pool of oil.  Your grandmother went down to talk to Murdock the other day, but she came back empty handed.  She let that man sweet talk her with his tales of his happy childhood growin' up on that farm and how he couldn't bear to part with it for any amount of money.  So, she gave up."

"But you're NOT giving up?"  Alex asks.

"Hello, no, I'm not givin' up.  With Westar buyin' up all these other potential tracts Ewing Oil wants, we NEED that land in Coke County.  And, we need to get it before that little snake Shawn Smith finds out about it and gets to Murdock."

"So, what is it you want me to do?"

"Son, this weekend, I want you to take a little trip down to Coke County and have a talk with Murdock.  Convince him to sell to us."

"Wait, WHAT?  You want ME to do this?"

"Yes, I do.  I promised your grandmother that I wouldn't go see Murdock or try to strong arm him into sellin'.  I did not, however, promise her that you wouldn't try to get that land for us."

Alex smiles.  "Wow, you are somethin' else.  If you can't get in the front door, you take the back door, right?"

John Ross looks at his son and smiles.  "Y'know, it's strange, you sayin' that.  My Daddy use to tell me that my grandpa Jock, your great-grandfather, use to say that same thing.  But yes, son.  We're gonna have to take the backdoor to get to Murdock.  Alex, I want that land.  And I want you to get it.  Any way you can. Now, I don't want anybody hurt, but, do whatever you have to do SHORT of physical harm to get us that land."

Alex looks at John Ross and nods.

Cass Winthrop's apartment....that evening....

"Lila, I'm telling you, this is a terrible idea,"  Cass says as he and Lila argue that evening about her decision to go after part of J.R.'s estate.  "Look, you've developed a good relationship with Justin, with Bobby, and you and Sue Ellen are starting to become friends again.  Are you sure you wanna destroy all that, just to get back at John Ross?  Is it worth it?"

"I am sick of John Ross treatin' me like trash.  He treats me like an outsider and he's constantly throwin' it up to me that my Mama was nothin' but a common hooker."

"John Ross is a jerk, I agree,"  Cass says.  "But he's only ONE member of that family.  The rest of the Ewings have welcomed us with open arms.  Even Jill.  Jasmine is becoming friends with your brother James's daughter Ashley.  Lila, don't do this.  Just let it go.  Concentrate on your relationship with the rest of the family and forget John Ross.  If he comes around, he comes around.  If not, then you don't need him.  Besides,  Justin said he treated him the same way when he first came to Dallas, and look at them now.  They're close, like real brothers."

Lila sighs.  "Alright.  You've made your point.  I'll hold off on this, FOR NOW.  But I can't promise for how long.  I swear, Cass, if John Ross keeps pushin' me......"

"Okay,"  Cass says.  "If you decide, at some point, that you wanna go through with this.......then I'll help you.  I'll represent you."

Lila looks up at him.  "Fair enough.  Thank you, Cass.  I knew I made the right decision when I chose you to be my son's father."

Cass smiles at her.  "Would you just look at us?  We hardly act like two people who are divorced.  I honestly think we get along better now than we did the last few years of our marriage."

"You ever.........you ever regret that we got a divorce?"

Cass looks at her and hesitates a moment before answering.  "Sometimes.  Do you?"

"All the time,"  Lila replies.  The two look deep into each others' eyes, and almost kiss, but their moment is interrupted when Jasmine walks into the apartment.

"Well, now, what's going on here?"  Jasmine asks with a smile.  "I'm going to hang out tonight with Conner, but, maybe I need to stay home and chaperone you two."

Cass and Lila look at the girl, embarrassed by being almost caught in a compromising position, then look at each other.

An apartment in Dallas....

John Ross, Brandon Harwood, Jordan Lee III, and Samantha Chambers are meeting in an apartment in Dallas that night.  "So Smith wants to cut the rest of the Cartel out of these two and all future deals,"  John Ross says.

"Yep, that's what he said,"  Samantha replies.  "He wants Westar and Chambers Oil to go into these deals together. ........WITHOUT the rest of the Cartel."

"So what do we do about this?"  Brandon asks.

"Simple.  We let it happen,"  John Ross replies.

"Let it happen?"  Jordan asks.  "John Ross, are you saying we should just let Smith cut us out of these deals?"

"Jordan, do I have to remind you that these are bogus deals to begin with?"  John Ross asks.  "If Samantha were in this with Shawn all by herself, well, I think we have a better chance at really screwin' him over.  The kid trusts Samantha, both in business, and........other areas, too."

"I don't like this, John Ross,"  says Brandon.  "I don't like the idea of Samantha bein' used this way."

"I don't think any of us particularly likes this, Brandon, but unless you can come up with a better plan, I'm afraid we're kinda stuck with this one.  And Samantha bein' our only young lady in the Cartel, we had no choice.  Now, if Shawn Smith were queer, one of you handsome gents could do the job, but, that's not the case. Besides, I haven't heard the lady complain about her assignment."

"No, actually, I'm kind of enjoyin' it,"  Samantha says.

"Yeah, I'm sure you are,"  John Ross says.

"And what happens after we get cut out of this little partnership?"  Jordan asks.

"Then, we move in for the kill,"  replies John Ross.  "After Samantha has Shawn Smith all to herself, we bait him with the biggest deal of his life, one he won't be able to pass up.  And once Westar sinks a couple hundred million dollars into the deal........we pull the rug right out from under him.  And Westar's board, not to mention ol' Jeremy Wendell himself, will be so fed up with that incompetent kid losin' all that money, they'll kick him out on his rear end so fast he won't know what hit him."

"This better work, John Ross,"  Brandon says.

"Don't worry.  We all do our part, and it WILL work."

"I still think we should've let C.J. Ewing in on what we're doing,"  says Jordan.  "After all, he is the head of the Cartel."

"My stepbrother, slash cousin, doesn't need to know anything about this, Jordan.  Neither does that uncle of yours.  Jason would probably go right to C.J. with this.  That's why I only chose the three of you to execute this plan to get rid of Shawn Smith with me.......'cause I knew I could trust you.  Now, I suggest we all get outta here and get on home.  Jordan, we appreciate the use of your little bachelor pad here for this meetin'."

"Well, goodnight, everybody,"  Samantha says.

"Samantha, hold on,I'll walk ya down,"  Brandon says.  "Jordan, talk to you tomorrow."

"Yeah, sure, Brandon.  Have a good night,"  Jordan says as Brandon and Samantha leave the apartment.  Jordan looks at John Ross.  "Well, aren't you leaving, too?"

John Ross pours himself a drink, then walks over to the sofa and takes a seat.  "Oh, not just yet."

"And why the hell not?  The meeting is over."

"Because you and I have some other business we need to discuss, Jordan,"  John Ross says.  "There are a couple big deals comin' up that the Cartel will likely vote on real soon.  And I'd like to have your assurance that you're gonna vote my way."

"I'm not gonna let you blackmail me into being your puppet in the Cartel anymore, John Ross,"  Jordan says.,

"Well, now, see, that's where you don't have a choice.  I still have those very racy photos of you in bed havin' sex with that underage girl."

"A tryst that YOU set up.  I had no idea she was under age."

John Ross smiles.  "But will the police, a judge, and a jury believe that?  And what about your fam'ly?  Sure would be a shame to put them through a terrible scandal like that, especially now.  I hear your great-grandmother's not doin' too well these days.  I guess that's to be expected when someone reaches.......what is she, 98 now?  It'd be a real shame if that sweet lady had to endure knowin' that her beloved great-grandson, the namesake of her dear late husband, was in jail for havin' sex with a minor."

"I'm sure that your Daddy would be very proud of you right now, John Ross,"  Jordan says.  "From everything I've heard about the man, I'd say you've become a carbon copy of J.R. Ewing."

"Well, thank ya, Jordan,"  John Ross says, looking at the young man.  "That's about the nicest thing you've ever said to me."

Sue Ellen and Catlin's home....the next morning....

Sue Ellen and Catlin are having breakfast in their dining room the next morning as the maid pours Sue Ellen a second cup of coffee.  "Thank you, Doris,"  Sue Ellen says.

"You're welcome.  Would you like some more coffee, Mr. Ewing?"

"What?  Oh, no, thank you,"  Catlin replies.  The maid smiles, then leaves the room.

"Sweetheart, what's the matter?"  Sue Ellen asks.  "Something has obviously been bothering you for the past couple of days."

"I'm sorry, darling, I just have a lot on my mind."

"Would it have anything to do with your lunch with Donna Love the other day?"

"In a way,"  Catlin says.

"What do you mean?" Sue Ellen asks.

"Oh, nothing, darling.  Sue Ellen, have you ever met Heather's mother?"

"Heather Ewing?"

"Yes."

"No, I haven't.  Why do you ask?"

"I was just curious.  I happened to run into Heather and her mother, and Courtney, at lunch the other day."

"Oh?"  Sue Ellen asks.  "What's Heather's mother like?"

"I'm not really sure.  She seems nice enough."

"Catlin, why do I get the feeling that something about Heather's mother bothers you?"

"It was......it was the strangest thing, Sue Ellen.  When I saw Heather's mother, Connie, I could have sworn...... she is the spitting image of someone I use to know."

"Really?  Who?"  Sue Ellen asks.

Catlin hesitates for a moment before answering, then looks at her.  "My late wife, Sally."

"Sally?  Sally Frame?"

"Yes.  Sue Ellen, I know that Sally died more than 30 years ago, but, this woman looks exactly the way Sally would look today if......if she were still alive."

"Catlin, how can that be?"

"I have no idea.  I was thinking, maybe this woman is a relative of Sally's."

"Sally's maiden name was Frame, wasn't it?"

"That's right,"  Catlin replies.

"And she was an aunt of Bridget's half-brother, Steven, if I remember correctly.  Could you ask him?"

"That wouldn't do any good.  Sally was adopted by the Frames.  Her real parents were Spencers, and I don't know anything about them."

"Then why not just ask Heather, or better yet, her mother, if she knew the Spencers or if she could be a relatives of Sally's?"

"I thought about that.  I felt it would be weird just going up to a total stranger and asking a question like that.  But maybe you're right.  Maybe I should.  Because seeing that woman's face.......so much like Sally's......I'll never be able to rest until I know for sure."

Southfork....late morning....

Michael and Jacob are feeding some grass to a couple of the horses at Southfork as the ranch is blanketed by a thick fog later in the morning.  Miguel and Antonio are walking along the road when they spot Michael and Jacob.  The Trevino boys walk over to them.  "Good morning, Michael.  Jacob,"  Miguel says.

The boys turn and looks at them angrily.  "Hi,"  Michael says.

"I understand that there is going to be a rodeo on Southfork soon."

"That's right.  Next Saturday," Jacob says.

"Come on, Jacob,"  says Michael.  "We better go.  We got a lot to do."  Michael and Jacob start to walk away from them.

"Michael, wait, please,"  Miguel says.

Michael and Jacob stop and turn to face the two Trevino boys.  "We don't wanna talk to you,"  Michael says.

"Yeah, we thought you were our friend, but all the time you were trying to hurt my Dad,"  Jacob says.  "That's the only reason you came here."

"And it was Bryce who got hurt," says Michael.  "He could've been killed because you cut that strap on Christopher's saddle."

"I know, and I am deeply sorry for what I did.  I have been feeling such guilt.  If I could take back what I did, I would.  But Christopher has forgiven me.  I would like very much if you could forgive me, too.  I would like to be your friend.  So would Antonio."

Michael and Jacob pause for a moment and look at each other, then they look at the other two boys.  Jacob lets out a sigh.  "Okay," he says.  "I guess we could be friends.  Right, Michael?"

After another brief pause, Michael looks at Miguel and his brother and smiles.  "Sure,"  he says.  "I guess we can be friends."

Miguel and Antonio also smile.  "That is wonderful,"  Miguel.

"Hey, you guys wanna help us?"  Michael asks.

"What are you doing?"  Antonio asks.

"We're about to go help our Grandpa get things set up for the rodeo next Saturday,"  Jacob says.  "Then we're gonna practice riding and steer roping."

"Sounds like fun,"  says Antonio.

"Well, come on then,"  Michael says.

"I am afraid I cannot,"  says Miguel.  "I must get to work.  I am still a ranch hand around here, remember.  But, Antonio, you go ahead.  I will find you when I am on my lunch break."

"Okay,"  Antonio says.  As Miguel watches them, his younger brother walks away with Michael and Jacob, Antonio listening with great interest as the other two boys tell him all about the Ewing Rodeo.

Westar Oil....later....

Shawn signs his name to a contract in his office at Westar that afternoon as Samantha Chambers and Westar's corporate attorney look on.  "There you go,"  Shawn says, handing the contract to the attorney.

"Now, Ms Chambers, you sign here, right under Mr. Smith's signature,"  the attorney says.

Samantha takes the contract, looks it over very briefly, and then signs it.  "Mr. Coleman,"  she says, handing the contract to the attorney.

"Congratulations, you two,"  the attorney, Thad Coleman, says.  "You are now partners in three oil fields in Odessa.  And, just looking at these geology reports, this venture is gonna make both of your companies a hell of a lot of money."

"Even more, now that it's just the two of us,"  Shawn says.

"I still feel a little guilty for cutting the other Cartel members out of this deal,"  Samantha says.

"Well, DON'T,"  Shawn tells her.  "There'll be other deals with The Cartel.  But these, are all OURS."

"Well, I'll go and file these contracts with our legal department,"  Coleman says.

"Thanks, Thad,"  says Shawn.

"I'll be in touch,"  Thad says as he leaves the office.

Shawn walks over  to Samantha and puts his arms around her.  "I think this calls for a celebration,"  he says with a smile.

"What'd ya have in mind?"  Samantha asks.

"I think you know,"  Shawn says, pulling Samantha into a passionate kiss.

A pasture on the Krebbs Ranch....early afternoon....

Conner is working on a fence at the Krebbs Ranch early in the afternoon when Jasmine Cory rides out to the pasture on a horse.  Despite a cold start to the day, the afternoon had given way to much warmer temperatures in the low 80s, and working hard, Conner had shed his shirt.  Jasmine stops the horse some distance away from where Conner is working when she sees the young man working shirtless.  She smiles and watches him for a moment, admiring his body.  Then she trots the horse over to him.  "How's it goin', farm boy?"  She says.

"Well, hi,"  Conner says.  "What in the world brings you out here, and on a horse, too?  I had no idea you even knew how to ride."

"There's a lot about me that you don't know.  I stopped by the house, hoping to catch you before you ate lunch.  One of the hands told me where to find you, and I borrowed this horse from the stables.  WITH permission, of course."

Conner smiles.  "It's good to see you."

"Can I take you to lunch?"  Jasmine asks.

"I would absolutely LOVE that.  I've been workin' on this fence for the past three hours.  But, how about I take YOU to lunch?  There's this great little diner in Braddock that has the best hamburgers you'll ever eat."

"Well, I've never been the kinda girl to turn down a lunch invitation from a handsome guy.  But.....you have to promise to shower first."

Conner laughs.  "Yeah, I guess I'm not exactly fit for dining out right now, am I?  Okay, umm, let's go on up to the house, and I'll take a quick shower, and then we can go."

"You're on."

Conner picks up his shirt and slips it on, then he walks over to his horse and climbs on.  "Race ya back to the house,"  he says.  "I'd like to see how good you really on a horse."

"You're on, Mr. Ewing,"  Jasmine says.  The two take off at high speed, racing across the pasture in the direction of the Krebbs house.

A diner in Braddock....later....

Conner and Jasmine walk into Pete's Diner in Braddock later and take a seat at a table.  A second later, a waitress of about 40 walks over to them.  "Well, Conner, hi,"  she says.

"Hi, Patty."

"Long time, no see."

"Yeah, it has been a while.  I've just been busy."

"Well, it's sure good to see ya.  How's that handsome brother of yours?"  Patty asks.

"Dylan's just fine.  The ranch is keepin' us both real busy these days."

"So what can I get y'all?"

"Jasmine, know what you want yet?"

Jasmine looks at the menu.  "I sure do.  I'd like a double cheeseburger, large fries, and to drink.......diet Coke.  Oh, and a side order of onion rings."

"Conner?"  Patty says.

"I'll have the same,"  Conner replies..  "But to drink, give me a regular coke."

"Comin' right up,"  Patty says.  She turns and walks away.

"Well, what do you think?"  Conner asks.  "Didn't I tell you this was a great place?"

"It's very quaint."

Conner smiles.  "I forgot.  I'm dealing with a girl with different tastes than what I'm use to."

"Meaning what?"

"Oh, just that, I'm sure that you're use to caviar and more elegant restaurants than Pete's Diner."

Jasmine laughs.  "Well, you're right about that, BUT, this is a nice change.  A very nice change.  And who knows, if I like Pete's burgers, and if the two of us continue to hang out like this, I just might become a regular here.  How would you feel about that?"

"How would I feel about what?"

"About me becoming a regular around here."

Conner looks at her and smiles.  "I think I'd like that very much."

Jasmine reaches across the table and takes Conner's hand.

Jeremy Wendell's penthouse....that night....

Shawn is let into Jeremy's penthouse suite that night by his butler.  "Thank you, William,"  Shawn says.

"You're welcome, sir,"  William says.  "Your grandfather is waiting for you jn his office."

Shawn nods, then walks down the hallway to Jeremy's office and knocks on the door.

"Come in,"  Jeremy says from inside.

Shawn walks into the office.  "Evening, Grandfather.  Kenneth said you wanted to see me."

Jeremy turns around to face his grandson.  "Yes, I do.  Sit down."

Shawn walks over and takes a seat in a chair across from the sofa.  Jeremy pours himself a drink, then comes over and takes a seat across from him.  "Aren't you gonna offer me a drink?"  Shawn asks.

"No, I'm not."

"You sound displeased.  What's wrong?"

"I understand that you recently entered Westar into a very large deal........some oil fields near Odessa......in partnership with The Cartel, is that right?"

"Yes, that's right.  I thought you would be pleased about that.  You've been saying you wanted Westar to develop a better relationship with The Cartel and you wanted us to do business with them."

"Yes, that's right,"  Jeremy says.  "I want Westar to do business with ALL of the Cartel, with the exception of Ewing Oil, and not just one company.  It's come to my attention that you and your new little......playmate......... Samantha Chambers, deliberately cut out the other Cartel members and signed the Odessa deal yourselves, between Westar and Chambers Oil.  Now I'm sure I don't have to tell you that won't bide well with Westar's relationship with The Cartel."

"Grandfather, I just thought that, with fewer partners on those fields, Westar would stand to make a lot more money than if we were partnered with everyone in The Cartel."

"You thought?  You THOUGHT?  Shawn, I changed my will to make you my sole heir and I've groomed you to head Westar for many years to come.  Now I'm beginning to have reason to regret that decision."

"Grandfather, don't say that,"  Shawn says.  "These last few months, I've put Westar back on top.  I've done everything that you've asked me to do.  I thought I was doing a good thing by trying to make the company more money."

"Sometimes, it isn't all about money, Shawn.  But about alliances.  An alliance with The Cartel would be very beneficial to Westar, especially in our quest to destroy Ewing Oil.  Much of their business is done with and through The Cartel.  Now if Westar could persuade The Cartel that it would be to their advantage to expel Ewing Oil, then that would leave the Ewings alone and very vulnerable. You already have a good relationship with Chambers Oil, which is a very powerful member of The Cartel, but we're also going to need good relations with the other companies as well, in particular Harwood Oil.  I want you to fix this mistake you've made and repair the damage you've done to Westar's relationship with The Cartel."

"Yes, Grandfather,"  Shawn says, continuing to play the ever loyal servant to his grandfather, while privately seething with anger inside over being treated like a common servant by Jeremy.

"Good,"  Jeremy says.  "I'll expect a report from you in no less than three days.  And I want......"  Jeremy suddenly stops speaking, a strange look on his face, a look as if he is in great pain.

"Grandfather, is something wrong?"  Shawn asks.

"I......."  Jeremy tries to speak, but can't.  He clutches his chest.

Shawn stands to his feet and rushes over to Jeremy.  "Grandfather?  Grandfather, what is is?  What's wrong?"

"My.......my medicine,"  Jeremy says in a weak voice, pointing to his desk with his right hand while clutching his chest with his left.

"Medicine?"  Shawn asks.  "WILLIAM!!"  He yells.

A few seconds later, the elderly butler rushes into the room.  "Yes, sir?"

"William, something's wrong with my grandfather."

"Mr. Wendell, what.....your medication,"  William says.  The butler hurries over to Jeremy's desk, opens the top drawer, and takes out some pills, which he hurries back over to Jeremy.  William opens the bottle and takes a small pill out.  "Mr. Wendell, put this under your tongue, sir."

Jeremy takes the pill and puts it into his mouth, then he begins to relax.

"Perhaps you had better go, Mr. Smith,"  William says to Shawn.

"William is he gonna be okay?"

The butler looks at him.  "Outside."

A moment later, William and Shawn leave the room, William closing the door behind them.  "Okay, William, what the hell happened in there?  He was fine one minute, and then, it was like he was having heart attack."

"Yes.  Your grandfather didn't want anyone to know this, not even you, sir.  But Mr. Wendell has a heart condition. A very serious heart condition for a man his age."

"Will he be alright?"  Shawn asks.

"Oh yes.  Once he takes his nitroglycerin, the attacks

always subside.  What he needs now is rest."

"Okay, well, I'll go,"  Shawn says.  "I'll check on my grandfather tomorrow.  And if anything happens, call me."

"Yes, I will, sir."

"Thank you, William.  Good night."

"Good night, sir."

Shawn walks past William down the hall, and leaves the apartment.  In the hallway outside, he pauses for a moment and smiles.  "So, the old man has a heart condition.  This really is my lucky day,"  he says, then walks away.

Southfork....the next morning....

John Ross and Krystina walk into their bedroom from the bathroom after taking a shower the next morning.  "Damn, that shower was nice,"  John Ross says.

"Was that the only thing that was......nice?"  Krystina asks, seductively as she puts he arms around him.

"Oh, no it was not.  The shower is definitely secondary to somethin' else,"  he says, kissing her.

After several seconds, Krystina pulls out of the kiss.  "If we don't stop now, we'll never get down to breakfast."

"So what?  It's Saturday.  I don't have to work today, so, we can spend some more time doin' what we do best,"  John Ross says, grabbing his wife and pulling her close to him again.

"Yes, but I do have to feed the kids,"  Krystina says.  "And, you have to see Alex off on his trip."

"Oh, yeah."

"John Ross, where exactly is Alex going today, anyway?"

"Oh, just on a little business trip for Ewing Oil.  To look at a piece of property we might be interested in,"  John Ross replies as he picks up his tank top shirt from the bed and slipping it on.  "And if we do get this property, it's gonna mean a lot of money for Ewing Oil."

"And let me guess,"  Krystina says.  "You're hoping to grab that property before Westar does."

John Ross looks at her with a smile.  "You know, it is downright scary how well you know me sometimes."

"Well, you're not that hard to figure out, darling."

As John Ross begins to kiss his wife again, his cell phone rings on the table beside the bed..  "Damn it,"  he says with a sigh.

"Just let it ring."

"Nah, it might be important.  Why else would anybody be callin' me at 8:21 on a Saturday mornin'?"  He walks

over and picks the phone up.  He quickly answers.  "This had better be good, callin' me this early on a Saturday mornin'," he says.  John Ross listens for a moment to the person on the other end of the line, then he smiles, having apparently received good news.  "Well, now, Frank, I appreciate this.  Can you email me this information right now?  Okay, I'll be expectin' it.  And you, my friend, can be expectin' a real hefty bonus for a job well done."  John Ross ends the call and puts his phone down, then laughs happily.

"John Ross, what was that all about?"  Krystina asks.

"That, my darlin', was my ace in the hole.  The leverage I need to get my hands on that piece of land I want."  Just then, John Ross's phone beeps, indicating that he has received Frank's email.  He picks his phone up again, looks at it, and smiles again.  "I'll be back,"  he says, then quickly leaves the room.

Meanwhile....Alex's bedroom....

Alex is in his bedroom packing an overnight bag for his trip to Coke County when a knock sounds at his door.  "Come in,"  he says.

John Ross walks into the room.  "Well, talk about perfect timin', but I have the leverage we need to persuade Farmer Murdock to part with his land, and all that oil underneath."

"Oh, yeah?  What leverage?"

"Take a look at this,"  John Ross

says, showing Alex the email on his phone.

Alex reads over the email, then looks at John Ross and smiles.  "Well, this is gonna be easier than I thought."

"Damn right, it is," John Ross says.  "I know you're gonna make me proud today, Alex.  That's why I'm givin' you this assignment, because I know you can do it."  He pats his son on the shoulder, then starts to leave the room.

"I thought it was because you promised Grandma that you wouldn't go near Murdock,"  Alex says.

John Ross stops at the door and looks back at his son.  "Well, that, too,"  he says, then winks at his son and leaves the room.

Alex smiles with pride, happy that John Ross had given him such responsibility in the company this early on.

Southfork....later....

At noon that Saturday, Christopher and Lucas are watching as Jacob and Michael are practicing their roping skills to prepare them to compete in next week's youth events at the Southfork Rodeo.  The brothers smile with pride as they watch the boys.  "You know what this reminds me of?"  Christopher asks.

"No, what?"  Lucas asks.

"When John Ross and I were kids, doin' this very same thing.  Dad was a good teacher, but John Ross just never could seem to get the hang of it.  Dad always said John Ross took after Uncle J.R., that he was totally inept around the ranch."

Lucas laughs at the comment, but after a few seconds, his smile begins to fade.  "Must have been nice.  Growin' up here, Dad teaching you everything he knows about ranching."

"It was,"  Christopher says.  "Southfork was a magical place to grow up.  Of course, it got to be a pretty lonely place later."

"Lonely?"

"Yeah.  After everyone was gone.  Grandma and Clayton were traveling after Grandma gave Dad the ranch.  Lucy had moved to Europe to manage some art gallery or something.  John Ross had decided he wanted to live with his mother in England, and Uncle J.R. left.  I had goe to England with John Ross, and I was gonna stay over there for a while, maybe a year, but, knowing that Dad was back here all alone at Southfork, I just couldn't.  I couldn't leave him alone like that, so, I came home.  And for the next few years, it was just him and me here."

"Wow, that had to have been lonely,"  says Lucas.  "Just you and Dad on this great big ranch."

"Yeah, that's why Dad thought about selling Southfork the first time."

Lucas looks at his brother.  "He was gonna sell?"

"I don't think he ever REALLY thought seriously about it back then, but, I remember we were out riding on the ranch one day, and Dad got to talking about how I was gonna go off to college in a couple years, and Southfork needed a big family like in the old days."

"Well thank God he decided not to sell,"  Lucas says.  "I can't imagine Southfork Ranch not being in the Ewing family."

"You sure got that right, little brother,"  Christopher says.  "Neither can I."

Bobby walks up to his two sons.  "Well, what are you two talkin' about over here?"

"Christopher was just telling me about the first time you thought about selling the ranch,"  replies Lucas.

Bobby smiles slightly.  "Yeah, I'd almost forgotten about that."

"Lucas and I were both saying how thankful we are that you didn't sell,"  says Christopher.

"So am I, son,"  Bobby says.  "Y'know, the only reason I even thought about selling this ranch back then was because the family had split up and everybody had gone their separate ways.  You were gonna go off to college in a two more years, and I didn't wanna be rattlin' around in this big ol' place all by myself."

"You remember what you said to me that day were out riding?"  Christopher asks.

"No, what'd I say?"

"You said that Southfork needed a big family like in the old days.  And look at us now.  This place has about as much family here as it can stand.  Just look at your grandsons out there, doin' the same thing me and John Ross use to do.  Same thing you and your brothers use to do."

"Same thing Mama and Uncle Garrison use to do when they were kids,"  Bobby says.  "And, prob'ly Grandpa Southworth before them when he was growin' up here."

"And, one day, hopefully your great-grandchildren will be out there practicing roping, too,"  says Lucas.

"I sure hope so."

"Dad, Southfork is more than just a ranch,"  Christopher says.  "It's even more than just our home.  It's as much a part of this family as any one of us is.  It's more a part of us than even Ewing Oil, because it's been in the family a lot longer."

"You're absolutely right, son,"  says Bobby.  "And I think it's time I made some changes to my will."

"Changes to your will?"  Lucas asks.

"Yes.  I'm gonna add a clause to my will that states that after I'm gone, Southfork is to always remain in the Ewing family.  I may not be able to control what John Ross does with his half of this ranch, but, I can ask that he honor my request, and hope that he and his kids will.  But if not, at least our half of Southfork will be handed down for generations to come.  To Michael and Jacob and their children and grandchildren.  Not to mention any other kids that you two might have.  I'm gonna see Jay Smithfield about that first thing Monday morning."

Smiling, Christopher places his hand on his father's shoulder.

The Murdock Farm, Coke County, Texas, afternoon...

"Look, son, you're just wastin' your time,"  Seth Murdock tells Alex as he and Bridget are at Murdock's farm that afternoon to talk to him about selling his land to Ewing Oil.  "I already told your grandmother when she was here that I got no interest in sellin'.  And no plans to sell."

"Maybe you'll find my offer slightly more attractive than the one my grandmother brought to you,"  Alex says.

"I doubt that, son.  Like I said, you're wastin' your time."

"Mr. Murdock, Ewing Oil will double the offer my grandmother made to you if you'll sell to us.  And, we're offering you 3% more profit on all oil pumped off this land."

"You sure make a temptin' offer, young man,"  Murdock says.  "But I'm afraid the answer is still no."

"Mr. Murdock, don't you understand the kind of money my father is offering you?  You'd be set for life, and so would you wife and kids."

"Look, uh.......what's your name again, son?"

"Alex."

"Look, Alex, you may not understand this, but it's like I told your grandmother when she was here, we got somethin' here that all the money in the world can't buy.  We have a legacy.  A legacy I intend to pass on to my two kids, and hopefully, to theirs after that, same as my Daddy handed this farm down to me and his Daddy before that.  No, Alex.  You go back and tell YOUR Daddy.........no deal.  Now if you and the young lady will excuse me, I have work to do."

"Y'know, Mr. Murdock,"  Alex says.  "There are different kinds of legacies to leave your kids.  You have a son about my age, don't you?"

Murdock looks at the young man, surprised that Alex would know that.  "Yes. My.....my son Travis is 20."

"Cool.  Same age as me.  And your daughter, Chelsea, is.......17?"

"How did you know that?"  Murdock asks.

"Information like that's not hard to find out,"  Alex says.  "You and your wife, you're leaving Travis and Chelsea a much more valuable legacy than a piece of land, and that's a family history they can be proud of.  How do you think they'd feel if that family history were tarnished?"

"Just what the hell are you gettin' at?"  Murdock asks.

"Your wife, Tracy, what was her profession before you married her?  I mean, when she worked in that little establishment over in El Paso.  Met her when you were stationed there in the army, didn't you?  And that place you met her........a bordello, wasn't it?"

Murdock angrily looks at the young man.  "Get off.  Get the HELL off my property before I throw you off myself."

"Now that wouldn't be a very good idea, Mr. Murdock," Alex says as Bridget looks at him in shock.  "Not if you want your wife's last life to remain a secret from your kids and all your good neighbors around here who think she's such an upstanding, Christian woman."

"My wife IS an upstanding woman.  She made some mistakes when she was young, just as you're making one now if you think you can blackmail me."

"Your wife's past suggests that she's not exactly a pillar of society,"  Alex says.

Seth Murdock looks past Alex's shoulder, a worried expression on his face. Alex and Bridget turn around, curious

what the man is looking at, and they see a young man walking toward them from the direction of the house and barn.  "Dad,"  the young man calls as he walks over to Seth, Alex, and Bridget.

"Yes, what is it, son?"  Seth Murdock asks.

"Just wanted to let you know I'm leaving for work now,"  Travis Murdock says.

"Okay, fine."

"Mr. Murdock, aren't you gonna introduce us to your son?"  Alex asks.  "Travis, isn't it?"

"Yeah, Travis Murdock,"  the young man says.  "Who are you?"

"Umm, son, this is Alex Ewing, and his girlfriend...." Seth says.

"Bridget.  Bridget McKinnon,"  Bridget says.

"Hey, nice to meet you guys,"  Travis says.  "You guys live around here?"

"No, actually, we live in Dallas,"  replies Alex.

"Dallas?  Wait a minute........EWING?  Any relation to Ewing Oil in Dallas?"

"Definitely,"  says Alex.  "My father and grandmother run the company.  My father's the president."

Travis smiles broadly.  "Wow, what's someone from Ewing Oil doin' way down here?"

"Well, I just thought I might be able to persuade your father to sell this farm to Ewing Oil."

Travis laughs.  "No way.  My Dad would NEVER sell this farm.  Our family's been here for generations."

"Travis, son, you'd better go,"  says Seth.  "You, uh, don't wanna be late for work."

"Right.  I'll see ya tonight, Dad.  Alex, Bridget, it was nice meetin' you guys."

"Nice meeting you, too, Travis,"  Alex says as the other young man turns and begins walking back toward the house.  Alex, Bridget, and Seth watch Travis for a moment until he is almost back to the house and out of earshot of what they are saying.  "Your son seems really nice, Mr. Murdock,"  Alex says.  "Sure would hate for him to somehow find out his mother was once a prostitute.  That could crush him."

"You listen to me, you rich little punk,"  Seth angrily says, grabbing Alex by the collar of his jacket.  "Get the hell off my land, or I will toss you off myself."

"You might wanna let go of me,"  Alex says.

After a brief hesitation, Murdock releases him.  "Get off this land, NOW!"

"Alex, come on, let's just go,"  Bridget begs.

"Not yet,"  Alex says, looking Murdock in the eye.  "Not until we have a deal here.  Now, Mr. Murdock, you can sell this piece of land to Ewing Oil and become rich beyond your wildest dreams.  Travis will never have to work again at that hardware store he works part time at.  Your daughter can attend the finest school during her senior year next year.  Your wife can dress in furs and minks, and her past can remain buried.  Or.........be a sentimental fool, hang on to this run down old farm, and have everyone, including your kids, find out what your wife use to do for a living before you married her.  Now what's it gonna be?"

Murdock looks at Alex for a few seconds, an expression of anger on his face as if he could kill him.  "Alright." he finally says.  "I'll do anything to protect my wife, and my family."

Alex smiles.  "I was hoping you'd see things our way, Mr. Murdock.  You're doing the right thing, for your family's future."

Bridget looks at Alex in shock, stunned that he would resort to outright blackmail to force a family off their land.

A short while later, Alex and Bridget get into the rental car they had used to drive out to the Murdock farm.  Alex laughs happily as he looks at a document in his hand.  "I can't believe it,"  he says.  "I did it.  I got this land for Ewing Oil."

"Congratulations, " Bridget says in a sour, sarcastic, even angry tone.

Alex looks over at her.  "Hey, what's the matter with you?"

"What do you THINK is the matter with me?"

"I don't know, that's why I asked."

"Alex, out there just now, I saw a side to you that I've never seen before.  A side that I don't like."

"You mean.......you mean getting Murdock to sell his farm to Ewing Oil?"  Alex asks.

"I mean FORCING that poor man to sell his family's birthright through blackmail.  Alex, what if someone forced the Ewings to sell Southfork that way?"

"That will NEVER happen."

"How can you be so sure?"  Bridget asks.

"Look, Ewing Oil needed this land as a new source of crude.  Westar has stolen several pieces of property from us in the last few months."

"So you justify stealing a man's farm, his entire life, by saying you need it to keep one step ahead of WESTAR?  Alex, I thought I knew you, but right now, you're reminding me of Shawn Smith, because this is exactly the kinda thing he would do."

"HEY!"  Alex angrily says.  "Don't you say that to me.....don't you EVER say that to me again!"

"Let's just get the hell out of here!"  Bridget demands.

"Fine!"  Alex starts the car, angrily throws it into drive, and they speed away.

Southfork....one week later....

The following Saturday afternoon, the Ewing Rodeo is well under way at Southfork, with hundreds of guests attending, drinks flowing, and food laid out on several tables, including several big pots of Miss Ellie's famous chilli, cooked personally by Ann and Donna using Miss Ellie's recipe, as well as some delicious Southfork BBQ.

While some guests mingle on the patio, a live country music band plays country and western music, as other guests make their way over to the rodeo arena, where the events of the day are about to begin.  At the arena, Bobby steps out with a microphone to greet the crowd, while Ann looks on from the sidelines.  As Bobby walks

into the arena, the crowd begins to applaud.  Bobby waves to them and smiles as he waits a few moments for the applause and cheers to die down.  Then he begins to speak.

"Hello, and thank you for that warm greeting,"  he says.  "On behalf of myself and my entire family, I would like to welcome each and every one of you to the 2020 Ewing Rodeo.  The proceeds from this year's rodeo will go to the research for a cure for pancreatic and liver cancers, a cause that is very near to the heart of my family.  The Ewing Rodeo has been an event held here at Southfork for many years.  Until the late 1970s, the rodeo was held semi-annually, along with the Ewing Bar-B-Q, but then we gradually tapered off having the rodeos for many years.  But I am glad that we revived the tradition of the rodeo, because it helps to

fund many charitable causes, such as cancer and AIDS research, homelessness, and children who live in poverty.  And that's all thanks to the charitable donations of people like you.  We are very pleased to have with us at this year's Rodeo one of today's top rodeo announcers, Mr. Bob Tallman."

As the crowd cheers and applauds, Bob Tallman stands up and waves.  "Thank ya, Bobby,"  he says.

"And we are also very proud to have with us, competing in this year's events, the youngest Professional Bull Rider to win two world championships, the first in 2017 when he was only 20, and the second in 2019.  Please join me in welcoming Montana's own Jess Lockwood."

As the crowd cheers and applauds, young Jess Lockwood stands and tips his hat to the people in the bleachers.

Once the applause again dies, Bobby continues:  "We're also very pleased to have a native Texas boy here with us today, one who I feel a particular kinship with, because he was born and grew up in Nacogdoches County, where Ewing Oil began almost 90 years ago.  Please welcome Texas's own Cooper Davis."

Once again, thunderous applause erupts from the stands as Cooper Davis, surrounded by two beauties, smiles at the crowd.

"And now, without further ado,"  Bobby continues.  "I'll turn things over to my good friend, Bob Tallman."

"Thank ya, Bobby,"  Tallman says.  "I hope y'all are here ready for a good time on this beautiful Saturday, as we're ready to get things started....."

While Tallman takes over in his role as official rodeo announcer, Bobby leaves the arena. Ann meets him and greets her husband with a kiss.  Then the two make their way around, greeting various friends along the way.

Meanwhile, as Courtney stands just outside the arena next to bleachers looking around, Heather and Lucas approach her.

"Courtney, hi,"  Lucas says.

"What's the matter?"  Heather asks.  "Lookin' for somethin'?"

"Yeah, I'm looking for my husband, have either of you seen Christopher?"

"I saw him earlier,"  replies Lucas.  "He was over by the concession stands."

"Thanks,"  Courtney says.  She walks away from Lucas and Heather and makes her way toward the concession

stands set up not far from the arena.  As she approaches, she stops suddenly when she sees Christopher chatting with Lucia Trevino next to the concession stands.  Courtney watches them with an angry look for a few seconds, then finally walks over to them.  "Christopher,"  she says.

"Oh, hi, honey,"  Christopher says.

"Hello, Courtney,"  Lucia says.

"Hi.  Christopher, can I have a word with you?"

"Sure.  Lucia, would you excuse us?"

"Certainly," Lucia says as Christopher and Courtney walk away.  Lucia watches them for a few seconds.

Meanwhile, Christopher and Courtney are walking away from the arena.  "So what was that all about?"  Courtney asks.

"What was WHAT all about?"

"You and Lucia looked pretty cozy."

"Courtney, don't tell me you're gonna start this whole jealousy thing again,"  Christopher says.

"What am I supposed to think, Christopher?  You've been spending a lot of time with Lucia lately and you even helped her and her sons get permanent residency here.  And now I see you having a cozy little chat with her."

"It just so happens that Miguel is entered into a couple of competitions today, and Lucia's just nervous about it, that's all."

"So she just needed a shoulder to cry on, right?"  Courtney asks.  "But why does that shoulder ALWAYS have to be yours?"  She gives him an angry look, then walks away, leaving Christopher annoyed at his wife's continued jealousy over Lucia.

Back at the house, Cass, Lila, Jasmine, and Cory arrive for the rodeo in Cass's Mercedes, which Cass parks alongside the road behind a long line of cars.  The Winthrops get out of the car and begin walking toward the house, making their way through the crowd.

"I just hope I don't run into John Ross today,"  Lila says.

"Well, looks like there's gotta be a thousand people here,"  Cass says.  "But, it might be a good idea to just try and steer clear of your new brother today."

"What are the chances of running into him anyway, with THIS many people around?"  Jasmine asks.

Standing nearby at the bar with Mitch, Lucy spots the Winthrops.  "LILA!"  Lucy calls as she waves at them.

"Lucy, hi!"  Lila says, she, Cass, and their kids walking over to them.

"It's great to see you, I'm so glad you guys could make it,"  says Lucy.

"Thanks."

"Cass, how ya doin'?"  Mitch asks, extending his hands.

"Just fine, Mitch, thanks."

"Sure is a lot of people here,"  Cory says.

Lucy smiles.  "Yes, there are.  I think this is probably the biggest rodeo we've ever had here at Southfork."

"You wouldn't happen to have seen Conner Ewing around, have you?"  Jasmine asks.

"Yeah, as a matter of fact, I have.  I last saw him over by the porch."

Jasmine smiles.  "Thanks," she says, and walks away.

Looking around, Cory spots Daniel standing near the patio looking at him.  "Umm, would you guys excuse me?"  He asks.

"Of course,"  Cass says as Cory walks away.  They watch as Cory walks over to Daniel.  Cass smiles.  "Looks like our sons are getting along just fine."

"I'm glad," says Mitch.  "Daniel doesn't have a lot of friends.  He's always been a little shy and awkward, and making new friends hasn't come easy for him."

"Cory's always been the same,"  Lila says.  "So he and Daniel seem like they're made to be good friends."

Across the patio, Cory walks up to Daniel.  "Hey,"  Cory says.

"Hey, yourself.  Glad you made it."

"Oh, I wouldn't have missed this for the world,"  Cory says.  "I've heard these Ewing events can get pretty interesting.  And, since I'm a member of this family now, I kinda feel it's my.......obligation.......to be here."

"Yeah, I still can't get over the fact that your Mom is Lucy's cousin,"  Daniel says.

"Crazy world, huh?"  Cory asks.

"Tell me about it,"  Daniel says.

"Well, I am just glad that Lucy's not your mother."

"Dude, you're not the only one," says Daniel.  "If Lucy was my mother, I'd kill myself."

Cory laughs at the comment.  "Hey, can we go some place to be alone?"

"Gonna be kinda hard with all these people around here, and with the rodeo going on, but, I think I know a place, if you're up for a little bit of a walk."

"Lead the way,"  Cory says.

Meanwhile, across the patio, John Ross and Krystina are mingling, greeting their guests.  "Think we should be heading over to the arena?"  Krystina asks.  "Rodeo should be starting right about now."

"Yeah, I guess we better head on over there,"  John Ross says.  "Christopher's supposed to be one of the first up." As he and Krystina start to make their way through the crowd, John Ross looks up and sees Cass and Lila chatting with Lucy and Mitch across the way.  "Well, that's just about all I need today, was to see them here,"  John Ross says.

"Now, John Ross, be nice,"  Krystina says.  "After all, she IS your sister."

"Half-sister, darlin'.  HALF-sister,"  John Ross says.  "Come on.  Let's get to the rodeo."  As John Ross and

Krystina continue to make their way through the crowd, John Ross looks over, and he and Lila  lock eyes with each other from a distance.  Lila gives him a sly smile, to which John Ross replies with a scornful look, then he turns and continues walking toward the arena with Krystina.

Meanwhile....at the rodeo arena....

While Christopher is preparing for his first event, the famed rodeo announcer Bob Tallman introduces him:  "Ladies and gentlemen, first up in the bronc ridin' competition is Southfork's own Christopher Ewing.  Christopher is the son of Southfork's owner and host of this here rodeo, Mr. Bobby Ewing, and Christopher is no stranger to bronc ridin' and steer ropin'.  He won both events two years in a row at past rodeos here at Southfork.  Today, Christopher is gonna be ridin' one of our rowdiest broncs, Chance.  And we'll give Christopher a few seconds to get ready."

In the bucking chute, Christopher climbs onto the bronc and grabs hold with one hand.  He pauses for a few seconds to brace himself, then, when ready, he gives the nod.  The chute is opened, and ol' Chance the bronc bursts out and begins to buck hard with Christopher holding on tightly with one hand, his free hand high in the air.  "And he's OFF!"  Bob Tallman says as Christopher begins his ride.  From near the bleachers, a nervous Courtney watches her husband.  Meanwhile, standing nearby is Lucia, also watching Christopher with a smile.  Christopher manages to stay on the horse for 8 seconds, then right at 9 seconds he quickly dismounts the bucking animal.  "AND HE DID IT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,"  Bob Tallman says.  "Christopher stayed on Ol' Chance for a total of 8.9 seconds, for a score of 93.  CONGRATULATIONS, CHRISTOPHER!  UP next, is another member of the Ewing family, Christopher's cousin, Justin Ewing.  Justin is the son of the late J.R. Ewing, Bobby Ewing's brother, and although he didn't grow up here at Southfork, Justin has been around horses all his life, and has been ridin' since he was 4-years-old."

As Christopher makes his way out of the arena, Courtney greets him, along with Jacob.  "Congratulations,"  she says.

"Thanks.  I'm glad you stayed around to watch."

"I wouldn't be anywhere else."

"Dad, that was AWESOME!"  Jacob says with excitement.

Christopher looks at the boy and smiles.  "Thanks, buddy.  You'll be up soon.  The youth competition is up right after the bull riding."

"Jacob, I'm still not sure I like the idea of you participating in this rodeo,"  says Courtney.

"But Mom, why?"  Jacob asks.

"Because it was only a year ago that you underwent a heart transplant."

"But the doctor said it was okay.  You took me last week and Dr. Cramer said I was fine to compete."

"And, Mitch even checked him and said he's completely back to normal now,"  Christopher says.

Courtney sighs.  "I know, but I can't help but worry."

"It'll be okay, Courtney,"  Christopher says.

"I can't wait to watch Jess Lockwood ride,"  Jacob says.  "That guy's a legend, and he's only 22-years-old."

"Well, how about we go over and I'll introduce you and maybe get you a photo with him and his autograph?"

"Dad, that would be great!  I know Michael and Bryce would love to meet him, too."

"Well, tell ya what.  You go find Michael and Bryce, and meet me back here."

"Okay,"  Jacob says, then runs away.

Christopher smiles as he watches Jacob go.  "He's so excited about this rodeo,"  he says as Lucia approaches them.

"Excuse me, I hope I am not interrupting,"  Lucia says.

"No, not at all,"  replies Christopher.

"I just wanted to congratulate you, Christopher.  You did wonderfully."

"Well, thank you, Lucia."

"Excuse me, I need something to drink,"  Courtney says as she quickly walks away.  Christopher watches his wife with concern as she walks away from he and Lucia.

Meanwhile, as Pamela watches nervously from the sidelines, Justin climbs onto the bucking chute and mounts the horse he is to ride in the competition.  "Justin just turned 29-years-old,"  says announcer Bob Tallman.  "He grew up in Florida and has lived here in the Dallas area for almost 6 years.  Justin will be ridin' Bo in this competition.  As soon as you're ready, Justin....."

Pausing a few seconds, Justin braces himself, then he gives a nod, indicating he is ready.  The chute is opened, and the horse rushes out, immediately beginning to buck hard as Justin holds tightly on with one hand.  He makes it the entire 8 seconds, then dismounts the bucking animal.

"And, Justin has made it folks!"  Bob Tallman announces as Pamela and the rest of the crowd gives a thunderous applause..  "He managed to stay on Ol' Bo for a total of 8.7 seconds, almost tying the time of his cousin, Christopher.  Congratulations, Justin!"

As Pamela waits for her husband. Justin walks through the gate, rubbing his right hand, and approaches her.

"Congratulations,"  Pamela says.  "You were WONDERFUL."

"Oh, thank ya, darlin'.  I can't tell you how exhilaratin' that feels up there on that horse."

"Well, I'm just thankful that you don't do that for a living,"  Pamela says.  "My heart couldn't take it all the time."

Justin laughs.  "Well don't you worry.  I don't plan on changin' occupations."

"Hey, Justin, great ride,"  Alex says as he walks past them.

"Thanks, Alex,"  Justin says as Afton walks up to he and Pamela.

"Justin, you were wonderful,"  Afton says.

"Thank you, Afton,"  Justin replies, kissing his mother-in-law on the cheek.

Meanwhile, Alex is walking around the crowded area looking for Bridget, when he finally spots her in the distance chatting with Clay and Michelle, Dylan and Ashley.  Alex approaches them.  "Hey, guys,"  Alex says.

"Well, there's my favorite cousin,"  Clay says.  "What's up, buddy?"

"Everyone having a good time?"  Alex asks.

"Oh, yeah, just great,"  replies Dylan.

Alex looks at Bridget.  "Can we talk?"

Bridget nods, and the two begin walking away from the others.

"You've barely said ten words to me since last Saturday,"  Alex tells her.

"What do you want me to say?"  Bridget asks.

"You're still angry with me about that farmer?"  Alex asks.

"That farmer?  Alex, Seth Murdock is a man who you forced off of his land.......land that's been in his family for generations."

"Seth Murdock was paid VERY well for that land.  He and his family will never have to struggle or worry about money again for the next hundred years."

"And that's supposed to make up for what you and John Ross took away from them?  Their family's legacy?  Alex, what if someone came along and took Southfork away from YOUR family?"

"Bridget, it was business,"  Alex says.  "And like I said, Murdock was well compensated.  He can buy a hundred farms now if he wants."

"Alex, that's not the point.  Look, I love you.  I love you so much, but last Saturday, I saw a side of you that I didn't recognize........and I didn't like.  You were just like John Ross.  Blackmailing that poor man with mistakes his wife made when she was OUR age."

"Bridget, I'm sorry.  What else do you want me to say?  I don't wanna lose you over this."

"I don't wanna lose you, either, Alex.  I also don't want you to change.  I don't want you to turn into your father."

"And just what's wrong with my father?"  Alex asks.

"Nothing.  Alex, you know I love your family.  But I also love YOU for the person you are.......sweet, caring, uncomplicated.  That's not the person I saw last Saturday on that farm.  As much as I like John Ross, I don't want you to become like him in business.......ruthless, cutthroat.  Willing to do anything for money or to get ahead."

Alex takes her by the hand.  "Bridget, I love you.  And I don't wanna become like that, either.  Look, I'm a part of Ewing Oil now.  It's in my blood.  Ewing Oil is my future, and I want you to be a part of that future.  I can't promise that I'm never gonna have to do something that's a little underhanded, especially when going up against someone like Shawn and Westar.  But I can promise you that I won't lose myself in the process.  And.......no more dirty schemes like I pulled on Seth Murdock last Saturday.  From now on, my Dad's gonna have to do his own dirty work."

Bridget looks at him and smiles.  Then the two embrace.

"Let's go watch the rodeo,"  Alex says.

Bridget nods, and the two head toward the arena hand in hand.

Meanwhile, as Krystina is chatting with Catlin and Sue Ellen, John Ross is nearby talking to Samantha Chambers, while Krystina glances over at them every few seconds. slightly nervous that John Ross is having what looks like an intimate conversation with a beautiful business associate.   "Your wife keeps looking over at us,"  Samantha says.  "I think she might be jealous."

"Krystina trusts me,"  John Ross says.

"Little does she know that you can't be trusted,"  Samantha says.  "Speakin' of trust, you think it's wise for you and I to be seen here talkin' like this?  What if word were to get back to Shawn?"

John Ross smiles.  "Darlin', there's nothin' to worry about.  The kid knows Ewing Oil does business with the Cartel all the time.  For all anybody knows, we're discussin' a new business deal.  Not talkin' about puttin' the finishin' touches on Shawn Smith's demise."

"Wouldn't it be better if we talked about this some place else?"  Samantha asks.  "Like, say.......my apartment later?"

"Now, Samantha.  I told you that was over.  I intend to remain faithful to my wife."

"Hmmm.....until business calls for you NOT to be,"  Samantha says.  "Uh-oh.  Your mother's comin' this way."

Sue Ellen walks up to them.  "Hello.  Ms. Chambers, would you mind excusing us?  I'd like to have a word with my son."

"Of course, Mrs. Ewing.  Nice seeing you."

"Nice seeing you, too, dear,"  Sue Ellen says as Samantha walks away.

"You wanted to talk to me?"  John Ross asks.

"Yes.  John Ross, I understand that Seth Murdock changed his mind and sold us his farm in Coke County."

John Ross smiles.  "That's right.  That farm and all that oil underneath it is now the property of Ewing Oil."

"But, I don't understand.  Seth Murdock told me that he had no intention of selling that farm, no matter what we offered him.  And, you promised me that you would not talk to him and try to change his mind.  John Ross, did you do something to Murdock to make him sell to us?  Because if you did....."

"Mama, I promise you, I did not go near Seth Murdock, nor did I even speak to the man,"  John Ross says.  "If he had a change of heart about sellin' Ewing Oil his farm, then it was somethin', or someone else who convinced him, NOT me.  But, whoever or whatever it was that changed that man's mind, I couldn't be happier about it.  We now possess one of the richest tracts in the state, and we beat Westar to it."

Sue Ellen sighs.  "I just can't imagine what could've made him change his mind about selling."

"Mama, remember that old sayin', 'don't look a gift horse in the mouth'?"  John Ross asks.  "Just relax and be grateful.  Everybody came out on top here.  Murdock and his family are gonna become wealthy, and Ewing Oil now has a fresh source of crude that'll keep pumpin' oil for years to come.  Everybody wins.  Murdock prob'ly just realized how stupid he was at first for turnin' down all that money."

Sue Ellen looks at her son and slightly smiles, a bit suspicious of John Ros's explanation.

Jeremy Wendell's penthouse....

Sitting in his office at his penthouse apartment, Jeremy Wendell is looking over some papers and reports from Westar when he comes across one document that causes an angry look to come over his face.  Jeremy takes off his glasses and tosses them onto the desk.  After a brief pause, he picks up his phone and dials a number.  It rings several times but no one answers.  He hangs up, pauses another second, then dials another number.  On the second ring, someone answers.  "Kenneth, I wanna see my grandson at my apartment immediately.  Find Shawn and bring him here."  Jeremy angrily slams the phone down and picks up the piece of paper he'd been looking at again.  "Damn it, Shawn.  Just what the hell are you up to?"  He asks to himself.

Back at the Ewing Rodeo....

Back at Southfork, the bull riding competition is underway at the Ewing Rodeo, while Michael and Jacob are meeting and chatting with their hero, Professional Bull Rider Jess Lockwood.

"There ya go, guys,"  Jess says as he signs autographs for Michael and Jacob and hands them to the boys while Christopher, Courtney, Lucas, and Heather look on.

"Thanks, Mr. Lockwood,"  Jacob says.

Jess smiles.  "Hey, now, you call me Jess.  I'm not that much older than you."

"Thanks, Jess,"  says Michael.

"Jess, I wanna be a professional bull rider when I get older.  Any advice?"  Jacob asks.

"Well, Jacob,it just takes a lotta hard work, a lotta practice, a lotta patience not only with the bull but with yourself as well, a lotta commitment, and a willingness to contend with a lot of injuries, even the occasional broken bone."

"Okay, that settles it,"  says Courtney.  "No WAY are you gonna be a professional bull rider."

"And don't you think about it, either,"  Heather says to Michael.

"Jess, you really seem yo enjoy what you do,"  Lucas says.

"Oh, I do, Lucas.  I joined the PBR on my 18th birthday, and I couldn't imagine any other life for myself."

"You just got married not long ago, didn't you?"  Heather asks.

Jess smiles.  "Yes, ma'am, I did, last October 25."

"How does your wife handle what you do?"  Courtney asks.

"Well, Hailey worries about me, but she supports me 100%."

"I read that your wife is a world barrel racing champion,"  Jacob says.

"She sure is, Jacob,"  says Jess.  "Well, I'm up soon, so I've gotta go and get ready for my ride."

"Before you go, can Jacob and I get a picture with you?"  Michael asks.

"Sure, I'd love that.  Come on, guys."

"You boys get on either side of Jess and I'll take it,"  Christopher says.

"Take it with my phone, Dad,"  Jacob says.

"And take one with mine, too,"  Michael says, both boys handing Christopher their phones.

"Okay, smile,"  Christopher says.  He snaps a couple of photos with Jacob's camera, then with Michael's as the boys flank Jess on either side.  "Got it."

"Jess, good luck man, and thanks for chatting with the boys,"  Lucas says.

"No problem, man,"  Jess says.  "Jacob, Michael, you guys take care."

"Thanks, and good luck, Jess,"  Jacob says as Jess walks away.

"AND NOW, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS, UP NEXT IS THE YOUNG MAN WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITIN' TO SEE," announcer Bob Tallman says over the loud speaker.  "JESS LOCKWOOD JOINED THE PBR ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2015, ON HIS 18TH BIRTHDAY, AND IN 2016, JESS WAS NAMED ROOKIE OF THE YEAR.  ON NOVEMBER 5, 2017, AT THE TENDER AGE OF 20, YESS BECAME THE YOUNGEST PBR WORLD CHAMPION, AND WON HIS SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP THIS PAST YEAR, AND IS CURRENTLY THE YOUNGEST BULL RIDER TO WIN TWO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.  JESS, WHENEVER YOU'RE READY...."

Jess climbs onto the bull inside the chute.  He pauses for a few seconds to brace himself, then nods to the man to open the chute and release the bull.  The chute is

opened, and the bull charges out, bucking as Jess holds on tightly with one hand.  The bull bucks hard, but Jess manages to stay on for a little more than 8 seconds, then he leaps off the bucking animal and quickly runs to get out of its way.

"AND JESS'S TIME IS AN IMPRESSIVE 8.8 SECONDS,"  Bob Tallman announces as Jess takes off his helmet, waves to the crowd, and makes his way out of the arena.  "JESS BEAT COOPER DAVIS'S TIME BY HALF A SECOND.  CONGRATULATIONS, JESS!  AND THAT'S IT FOR THE PROFESSIONAL BULL RIDERS' COMPETITION.  NEXT UP IS THE YOUTH COMPETITION, WHICH WILL BEGIN JUST AS SOON AS OUR TEAM GETS THE FIELD READY.."

Meanwhile, as little Logan stands on the iron fence watching the rodeo, Lucas takes off his cowboy hat and places it on the little boy's head.  "There ya go, partner,"  Lucas says.  "One day you're gonna grow into my hat."

Heather sighs deeply as she looks out into the rodeo arena.

"Honey, what's wrong?"  Lucas asks.

"I'm just worried.  Michael was so taken with Jess Lockwood. Lucas, I'm serious, I really don't want our son to even consider a career as a professional bull rider, or anything else associated with the rodeo, unless he wants to be an announcer."

"Honey, Michael is growing up.  You can't protect him forever, and he's gonna do what he wants to do when he gets older,"  Lucas says as Bobby and Ann approcah them.

"Hey, there you two are,"  Bobby says.

"And there's my handsome little grandson,"  Ann says as she walks over and picks Logan up.

"The youth competition is next,"  says Bobby.  "Where are the boys?"

"They're with Christopher and Courtney,"  replies Heather.  "I'll go find 'em."  She gives Lucas a stern look, then walks away.

"Somethin' the matter with Heather?"  Bobby asks.

"Heather's got this fear now that Michael is gonna want to become a professional bull rider when he grows up like Jess Lockwood,"  Lucas replies.

"And, let me guess.....she's dead set against it?"

"You guessed it.  She's convinced it's the most dangerous profession there is."

Bobby laughs.  "Well, I wouldn't worry.  Michael's young yet.  He'll probably change his mind a dozen times about what he wants to be when he grows up."

"I hope you're right,"  Lucas says.

Jeremy Wendell's penthouse....

Shawn walks into Jeremy Wendell's penthouse apartment.  Looking around the spacious living room, he realizes that his grandfather is probably in his office, and he makes his way down the long hallway to the door of Jeremy's office and knocks.  "Come in."  he hears Jeremy say.

Shawn walks into the office and finds his grandfather sitting at his desk, his chair turned toward the window, Jeremy's back to him.  "Kenneth said you wanted to see me."

Jeremy turns around in his chair.  "That's right.  Come in."

Shawn walks in and closes the door.  "Grandfather, what can I do for you?  I was in the middle of something."

"In the middle of something?  One of your lady friends, no doubt."

"Well, that's MY business, now isn't it?"  Shawn asks.

"No, it's not,"  says Jeremy.  "YOU are CEO of Westar Oil, and I am pulling your strings.  Therefore, everything that you do, is MY business.  Now I sent William on an errand, so you and I could be here alone and talk without anyone interrupting."

"Just what have I done wrong now, Grandfather?"

"Would you mind explaining THIS to me?"  Jeremy asks, handing Shawn a piece of paper.

Shawn takes the paper and looks at it.  "What's the matter with this?"

"You're ordering the foremen at all of our newer fields to pump to full capacity?  Have you completely lost your mind?"  Jeremy asks, standing from his seat at his desk.

"The more oil we pump, the more money we make."

"And the greater the likelihood of being censured or even having some of those wells shut down by the ORC."

"Brad Barnes is head of the ORC, Grandfather,"  Shawn says.  "A position that WE put him in.  Do you really think he would dare shut our wells down?"

"A position that WE put him in?" Jeremy asks.  "It's a position that I put him in, and I can't have even the slightest bit of suspicion aroused concerning Westar's connection to Barnes.  First thing Monday morning, I want that order rescinded, is that clear?"

Shawn remains silent as he turns and walks across the room, his back to his grandfather the whole time, angering Jeremy further.

"Shawn, I said, is that CLEAR?"  Jeremy asks in a stern voice.

"NO, Grandfather, it's NOT."

"What did you just say to me?"  Jeremy asks.

Slowly, Shawn turns to face Jeremy.  "You know what, old man?  I am sick to DEATH of taking your CRAP!"

"What?"

"You heard me.  I bend over backwards to please you.  Yes, grandfather this, no, grandfather, that.  Well, no more.  No.....more!"

"Now you listen to me,"  Jeremy says, becoming so upset that he finds it hard to breathe.  "You......I changed my will to make you my sole heir....."

"Yes you did, but what you wanted wasn't an heir.  You wanted a lapdog.  A slave to do your bidding and kiss your ass at every turn.  Well, I'm done with that, old man."

As Shawn speaks, Jeremy suddenly begins to sweat profusely, then experiences a terrible pain in his chest and left arm.  He grabs his left shoulder as he breathes heavily.  Jeremy falls back into his chair.

Shawn looks at him.  "What the hell's the matter with you?"  He asks.

"I........I can't breathe,"  Jeremy says in a weak voice.  "Shawn.....my......my pills."  Jeremy manages to open the bottom drawer of his desk and takes out his bottle of nitroglycerin tablets.  He tries desperately to get the cap of the bottle off as Shawn watches him.  But Jeremy's hands are shaking so badly that he drops the bottle to the floor and it rolls away from the desk toward Shawn, who stops the bottle with his foot.

Shawn reaches down and picks up the bottle and looks at it, then looks at his grandfather, who is struggling even harder now to breathe.  "Well, well.  This is your nitroglycerin, isn't it?  Your heart pills?"

"Yes,"  Jeremy says.  "G.....give them to me......"

"Give you these pills?  You need 'em bad, huh?"  Shawn asks, holding the pills in his hand.

"Y.....yes.  Give them to me...... please......Shawn......."

"Please, Shawn?  Why, Grandfather, you wouldn't happen to be having a heart attack, now, would you?"  Shawn asks.  The young man laughs.  "Well, isn't this an interesting turn of events?  Looks like this kinda gives me the upper hand for once.  Grandfather, how would you like to make a bargain?  Just how much are these here heart pills worth to you right now?  How much does your total estate add up to?  You know, the entire estate I'm getting once you decide to go on to hell where you belong?  7, or 800 million?  These pills worth that much to you, old man?"

Jeremy looks at his grandson, tears running down his wrinkled face.  "Shawn......please......give me the pills.  I'll do.......anything......"

"Anything?"  Shawn asks. He walks over to the desk and leans down to Jeremy.  "The only thing I want you to do right now old man......is croak."

"Wi......William......"  Jeremy calls out in a very weak, raspy voice as he struggles to breathe.

"William's gone, remember?  You said you sent him on an errand so we could be alone.  Very bad idea, Grandfather."

Jeremy looks up at the young man, the pain in his chest almost unbearable, and now unable to breathe at all.  In one last gasp of strength, he leaves forward and reaches out for his pills in Shawn's hand.  When he does, he falls forward out of the chair and onto the floor.  Laying on his stomach, face down, Jeremy continues to struggle to breathe.  Shawn kneels beside him.  Jeremy looks up into his grandson's face, and tries to say something, but can't.  As Shawn watches, Jeremy closes his eyes, and all movement ceases.  He is not breathing.  Shawn

waits for more than 10 seconds, then places his hand on Jeremy's neck.  No pulse.  He leans down closer.  The old man is not breathing.  No heartbeat.  Jeremy quickly stands to his feet and looks down at the body of his grandfather.  He waits for a while, just watching, making sure that Jeremy isn't just pretending.  After almost two minutes of waiting, Shawn is convinced that Jeremy is really dead.  He starts to turn and leave, but then he pauses, remembering the nitroglycerin bottle still in his hand.  He quickly unscrews the bottle's cap and pours the pills out on the floor next to Jeremy.  He then kneels down and places the empty pill bottle on the floor next to Jeremy's right hand, placing the cap two feet away.  Again standing to his feet, Shawn looks down at his grandfather one last time.

"Goodbye, you old bastard,"  he says.  "Rest in hell."  Shawn turns and quickly leaves the office.  A minute later, he exits Jeremy's penthouse into the hallway outside.  After a brief pause, he smiles, then walks away.

All the old rivals gone now except Bobby JR cliff Wendell that was pretty cold bloodied by Shawn I think once jemerys butler finds out Shawn could be in some trouble great episode

Wow this was great. All kinds of twists and turns. So could Shawn be charged with a murder? Hate to see Alex fall to the dark side of the oil business. love the rodeo stuff. Is Sally alive?

wow that's a new low for shawn. He's definitely worse than both his brother and his grandfather combined now. This will catch up to him by seasons end, shawn will probably end up either dead or in jail. My current prediction is kenneth kills shawn out of vengence and alex gets framed for it

That was a great episode John the twists and turns of Dallas you had Alex make John Ross proud another chip off the old block like grandfather and great-grandfather wheeling and dealing and blackmail he learned from the best Jr learn from his daddy jock John Ross learned from his daddy JR and now Alex carrying on the tradition can't wait for the fall of Sean Smith knowing that Jeremy Wendell has croaked

Wow great writing! I guess John Ross is teaching Alex to be just like him. He might be able to live up to his fathers expectations. Jeremy Wendell helped make a monster out of his grandson. Now I guess Jeremy is gone, but can John Ross get rid of Shawn. I am not going to like a summer hiatus with the way you write. I look forward to reading Dallas every week.

Just to clarify, Sally's parents were using the names Peter & Janet Spencer at the time they died in a car crash. But their real names were Peter Sprague and Jennifer Gordon. I'm kinds blank on some details but I think Peter abandoned his original wife & children to run off with Jennifer, who was a college student at the time, and enter into a bigamous marriage. And Jennifer's mother was Beatrice Gordon, who once worked as a housekeeper for Rachel Cory.

John Ross is teaching Alex the right things, including how to use the J.R. Ewing Playbook. :)

I don't know who's worse. Shawn for what he just did to Jeremy Wendell or Alexis for marrying Cecil Colby on his deathbed and basically just watching him die.

    Parker Bena (Saturday, 25 April 2020 14:08)

Samantha Chambers better not try and talk John Ross into resuming their relationship. John Ross has got the goods on her family. She does that, John Ross will give her both barrels.

With Wendell gone Shawns gonna be in a good spot being the soul benificary of Wendells estate probably even have more power than John Ross considering he is only a partner in ewing oil stopping Shawn now might not be that easy unless he gets murdered like his brother which possible with the amount of people he is pissing off

John, This episode was one of your best. So much exciting scenes. Sure hope that Jeremy Wendell is not dead and will have Shawn arrested and put in prison for life. Hope John Ross stays true to his wife. Hope that John Ross and his sister becomes friends. There is so many things to look forward to. Can't wait for the next chapter. Thank you so much for all your hard work and may God bless you always.

    Parker Bena (Sunday, 26 April 2020 09:42)

@Rose She still watched him die. Plus, she kept insisting that the stupid wedding take place even though the doctor kept trying to tell her that it was a huge mistake.

  • #17

    Parker Bena (Sunday, 26 April 2020 09:48)

@Timmy There is NO way that Shawn Smith is going to be able to take down Ewing Oil. Shawn Smith is WAY out of his league. John Ross is the NEW Junkyard Dog and will squash him like a bug. I guess we can call Alex the "Junkyard Pup". Plus, Shawn is such a moron that he didn't cover his tracks very well after Jeremy's death. the pills are all over the floor and Shawn's prints are all over the pill bottle. Shawn could end up being charged with murder. That is, of course, assuming Jeremy Wendell is, IN FACT, dead.

  • #18

    Verena (Sunday, 26 April 2020 10:58)

Wow, when you think you can't hate Shawn more, he goes and does something like this. That was really cold-blooded and ruthless what he did to Wendell! He's still digging his own grave though. So is Brad, but I understand Pamela still being supportive as his sister, that might change though once Brad shows his true colours. It was good to see Afton at the rodeo. What is she up to? I miss her.

  • #19

    Parker Bena (Sunday, 26 April 2020 13:29)

If Jeremy is, in fact, not dead, a charge of attempted murder isn't going to bode really well for Shawn either.

  • #20

    Parker Bena (Sunday, 26 April 2020 13:31)

@Julia John Ross loves Krystina and he's hot going to screw that up. Besides. He's got Samantha Chambers and, ESPECIALLY, her brother over a barrel. One word from John Ross and Samantha and her family are toast.

  • #21

    Parker Bena (Sunday, 26 April 2020 13:46)

@Timmy Another thing. John Ross has an excellent support system in his wife and in his family. Shawn doesn't have that luxury.

    Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020 15:10)

Once again Timmy, you are wrong. the only person left from the old rivals list is Bobby now. Katherine Wentworth is in jail, Kimberly Cryder is in jail too. Michelle Stevens is in jail, Tripp McKay is dead too. Kenneth or Wendell’s butler will find him dead. Shawn is going to end up dead, or end up in jail for his grandfathers murder. Just when I thought I couldn’t hate Shawn anymore, he proves me wrong. You were saying Timny about John Ross being a terrible person? The worst thing that John Ross has done is cheat on his wife or blackmail somebody, but he’s never done the things that Shawn Smith did. He’s never killed his own grandfather while the man was having a heart attack. Wendell is not my favorite person, he was a cold person but again, not even he deserves to die like that. I wish Wendell’s butler would have never told Shawn about his heart. I figured something like this was going to happen.

  • #23

    Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020 15:15)

The Ewings enemy list is the shortest it’s been in a long time. Their enemy list consist of Westar, Shawn Smith, and Brad Barnes. And the Channings but i haven’t heard from them in a long while, and everything. Crazy that majority of their enemies are either in jail, or dead now.

  • #24

    Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020 15:27)

I agree what you said about Shawn. Shawn is SCUM with a capital S! You want to know what’s funny, I predicted at the beginning of this season that BOTH Brad and Shawn would be dead. The worst I think might happen to Brad is he gets fired, and John Ross might not even have to lend a hand. Do you are right, he will dig his own grave. And Pamela will more than likely end up seeing through his game. I love the fact that Afton is back too. She’s the only person I like in that Barnes family. She might need to meet someone new. She’s still a very attractive woman.

  • #25

    Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020 15:40)

That’s one hell of a prediction Trevor. Kenneth killing Shawn, and framing Alex for the crime would be a huge storyline. It would be a really good one too. The only thing that might not work is I doubt that anybody would believe Alex would never kill anybody. Not even Shawn. Shawn and Alex hate each other, but Alex would never kill Shawn. That’s crazy.

  • #26

    Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020 15:56)

Robert, well Alex is definitely John Ross son, that’s for sure, and everything. But then again, John Ross learned every dirty trick from the best JR, and JR learned from his father, John Ross grandfather Jock Ewing. Yes, Shawn is going to get what’s coming to him at the end of the day, and everything. Wendell doesn’t deserve to die like that.

  • #27

    Parker Bena (Sunday, 26 April 2020 16:05)

@Derek Lest we forget. Super psycho Brian Manning is also dead as is his loony toon sister Kaitlyn Spencer.

  • #28

    Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020 16:08)

Sure Shawn has a lot of power, I’m not even going to lie about that but he could end up being charged with his grandfathers murder. And he’s also pissed off a lot of people. He’s gone down the same road as Tripp McKay, and he saw what happened there. Michelle Stevens killed him. Somebody will end up killing Shawn. We might not know if Shawn is going to be able to enjoy all that money and Wendell’s estate.

  • #29

Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020)

Katelyn Spencer is not dead Bena Parker. She’s in a mental hospital, and everything.

  • #30

    Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020 16:41)

Julia, trust me, Wendell is dead. No possible way he survived that heart attack. That man was 90 years old, and he had a bad heart. Shawn is 70 years younger than Wendell. He might end up getting charged with his grandfathers murder. John Ross ended his affair with Samantha Chambers. Krystina will never find out about it. John Ross has covered his tracks really well, and he’s got leverage on Samantha and her family in case she wants to try something stupid. John Ross and Lila might end up being friends, but that’s again going to take time at the beginning of the day.

  • #31

    Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020 16:50)

The Ewing family is going to be in for a major shock when they find out that Wendell is dead and they didn’t even have to lift a finger. Shawn did it for them and everything. I wonder what the fall out is going to be from that.

  • #32

    Derek Mathews (Sunday, 26 April 2020 17:00)

Cass and Lila Winthrop, just get back together. Yall still in love with each other, and everything. Get remarried to each other and be happy with each other.

  • #33

    Trevor Campbell (Monday, 27 April 2020 07:40)

@derek all it would take is kenneth planting incrminating evidence just like what happended to justin after tripp's death. Shawn, Brad, and Adam Carrington are all walking down a dark path and it could very well land them all dead or in jail by the end of season 10. Then there may not be any ewing enemies left after that. Wendell shouldn't have let himself get so woked up at his age, but the way I see it is the same thing happened to him that happened to cliff barnes and both mckay brothers. Their endless obession with beating the Ewings ended up killing them, and that's exactly what Shawn and Brad are doing right now

  • #34

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 27 April 2020 09:23)

It’s hard to planet evidence on somebody that you have never even met? Kenneth has never met Alex in person. He doesn’t even know where Alex lives. But this part I absolutely agree with you about. Adam Carrington, Shawn, and Brad are all going down dark paths, and they could either be in jail, or dead. If that all happened, you would be absolutely right. There would no MORE Ewing enemies. The Ewings would be the ones standing tall. I think will be standing tall anyway regardless if they are alive. Wendell messes up when he got worked up about his age, his butler messed up when he told Shawn about his bad heart. But in the end, you are absolutely right. Jeremy Wendell, Cliff Barnes, Tripp McKay, Carter McKay, even Hunter McKay, they ALL were obessed with beating the Ewings, and that’s what ended up killing them. Brad and Shawn are on that same path right now. You are extactly right there.

    Timmy (Monday, 27 April 2020 18:28)

Shawns no saint what he did was terrible no question but I wonder if in fact wendell is dead the actor that plays him is still alive I actually always liked Wendell though he was a under used character but if he is fact dead and Shawn is the soul benefactor he will be in a strong postion and to say John Ross will take him down and he had the support of his family well the fact remains that Bobby Christopher don't trust him and he could be voted out of ewing oil at any time plus there's also this whole lila looking into JRS will who knows how that will turn out I suspect she won't get anything if she does in fact go through with who knows and derek I said the only 1 left was Bobby from the weststar ewing oil and Barnes Wentworth battles from the original series but knowing John walden I wouldn't be surprised if someone from the past comes back who would know and yes Shawn is a scum and worst than John Ross no question but don't forget John Ross groomed him when he used him to spy on tripp Shawns just got money hungry and power driven once Wendell got in his ear

  • #36

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 27 April 2020 20:14)

@Timmy: What’s worse then someone watching their grandfather have a heart attack? Not even John Ross has done that. Lila is out of her mind with this lawsuit, and everything. You just met your new family, and you are already making demands? How smart is again that? You JUST found out you were a Ewing for god sake; the fact is of course the Ewing family is going to feel someway about you because the fact is they keep getting blindsided by JRs secrets. They keep resurfacing. The Ewings as a family have dealt with this ever since he died. Anyway, Christopher and Bobby can’t really do anything about it. No they really can’t fire John Ross because just like any other Ewing, he owns a share of Ewing Oil; Bobby, Sue Ellen, and Christopher do too. But Bobby and Christopher are barely there anymore so Bobby and Christopher have no choice. They are just going to have to trust John Ross and Sue Ellen running things there. Wendell is dead. There is no way that a 90 year old man that has heart problems could survive a heart attack like that. So Shawn is more than likely going to get his estate not to mention all the money that Wendell left him in his will. The Ewings as a whole are trying to take down Shawn Smith, not just John Ross. John Ross groomed him because he was trying to get rid of Tripp McKay. Shawn got way too greedy, both money hungry and power driven.
