Alex dives into the pool at Southfork on a particularly hot late summer morning.  He swims across the full length of the pool, turns and swims back across.  Finishing his second lap, Alex climbs out of the pool and grabs a towel that's draped over the back of a chair on the patio.  As he begins to dry himself, Michael comes out of the house dressed in his swim suit and walks over to the pool.  "Morning,"  Alex says to his cousin.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Goin' for an early morning lap?"

"Yeah.  I couldn't sleep so I got up early."

"Somethin' on your mind?"  Alex asks.  "Your Mom?"

Michael sighs as he lowers his head and nods.

"She's still pretty down, huh?"

"Yeah,"  Michael replies.  "She hardly ever comes out of her room.  She and my Dad argue a lot.  It's been over two months since she lost the baby, Alex.  But instead of things getting better, it seems like they're getting worse."

"Losing a baby........it's one of the worse things any couple has to go through,"  Alex says.  "But your parents, they're strong people, man.  They're gonna get through this."

"I hate to say this, man, but, I don't even like being around my Mom anymore.  I don't know what to say to her.  Most of the time all she does is sit and stare.  When I talk to her, I don't even know if she hears me."

"Maybe you just need to get your mind off things.  Look, let's go for a swim.  Then, after breakfast, we'll go out riding, if you want."

Okay, sure."  Michael says.

"Come on, I'll race ya,"  Alex says.  The two jump into the pool.

A pasture on Southfork....

Meanwhile, Bobby, Christopher, and Lucas are out on the ranch that morning, surveying the effects of a summer long drought that has plagued parts of Texas, including Southfork.  "This stream's almost dried up, too,"  Bobby says, looking at a small stream cutting through the pasture.

"At this rate we're gonna be in real trouble, and real soon,"  Christopher says.

"Sure are, if we don't get some rain soon,"  Bobby agrees.  "Lucas, what do you think?"

"Huh?  What?"  Lucas asks, having not heard a word his father and brother had just said.

"I was asking what you think about the drought and about the stream almost dryin' up.  Son, are you alright?"

"I'm sorry, I'm just preoccupied this morning."

"Things aren't any better with Heather, huh?"  Christopher asks.

"No, not at all,"  replies Lucas.  "I thought that, as time passed, Heather would start to come out of this depression she sank into after the miscarriage.  But instead of getting better, I think she's getting worse, and honestly, I don't know what to do anymore.  She won't even talk to me."

"This miscarriage really hit Heather hard, son,"  Bobby says.  "Especially the way it happened.  Pam went through somethin' similar after her second miscarriage."

"I still think you should take Heather to see Ryan Benson,"  says Christopher.  "Ryan helped me through one of the worst periods of my life, and he helped you,  too."

"Chris, I've tried to get Heather to go see Dr. Benson, but she won't.  She says there's nothing he or anyone else can do to make her feel better."

"Lucas, you might not wanna hear this,"  says Bobby.  "But if Heather doesn't come out of this depression soon, you might have to think about getting her professional help whether she wants it or not."

"I've thought about that, too.  And that may be my only option.  I need my wife back.  That was MY baby too, and I've had to go through this whole thing all alone.  Heather has shut me out.  She won't let me grieve with her or even comfort her."

Bobby looks at his watch.  "We'd better be headin' in.  It's almost time for breakfast."

"Yeah, I need to check on Heather, anyway,"  Lucas says as the three men begin their ride back to the house.

The Southern Cross Ranch near San Angelo....

Sue Ellen walks onto the rear balcony off of her bedroom at the Southern Cross Ranch and takes in a deep breath of the fresh morning air.  As she looks out over the ranch, Catlin comes onto the balcony.  "Good morning,"  he says, kissing his wife.

"Good morning."

"Beautiful day."

"Yes, it is,"  Sue Ellen says.  "How'd you sleep?"

"Like a baby,"  Catlin replies.  "It's so peaceful here.  I almost hate to leave and go back to Dallas.  It's been a wonderful little vacation."

"Well, sweetheart, you know, we could always move down here full time,"  Sue Ellen says.

"As nice a prospect as that is, I don't think that would work so well.  I have Catlin Oil, and we have our family and friends in Dallas.  Not to mention you have Ewing Oil.  Would you really wanna give all that up to move here to the Southern Cross full time?"

"I suppose not.  But I am very glad that we decided to keep the Southern Cross for a vacation home.  It's nice to come down here when we just want to get away."

"I imagine there's a lot of memories for you here,"  says Catlin.

"Yes, there are.  You know, when J.R. and I separated and divorced the first time, John Ross and I lived here with Dusty and Clayton.  John Ross was only 2 at the time, so I doubt he would remember.  You are right, there are a lot of memories here.  Times I spent here with Clayton, even after my relationship with Dusty ended."

"Clayton Farlow sounds like quite a man.  I wish I'd known him and Miss Ellie."

Sue Ellen looks at her husband and smiles.  "They would have liked you,"  she says.  "In some ways, you remind me a lot of Clayton, especially the way you stand up to John Ross, just the way Clayton use to stand up to J.R."

"And speaking of your son, I wonder how he's doing running Ewing Oil since we've been away.  I wonder what kind of messes he's made."

"Remember, we promised NOT to talk about, or even think about business while we're here,"  Sue Ellen says.  "We're supposed to be here to relax and enjoy a nice long vacation."

"You're absolutely right,"  says Catlin.  "So what do you wanna do?  Go for a walk, or a horseback ride?"

"Let's take a ride.  We haven't been all over the Southern Cross, and I'd like to show you around before we leave."

Catlin smiles.  "I would love that,"  he says as his cell phone rings.  "Hold that thought."  He takes his phone from his pocket and looks at it.

"Who is it?"  Sue Ellen asks.

"Donna Love."

A look of anger comes over Sue Ellen's face. "I wonder what she wants."

"Ah, who knows?"

"Are you going to answer it?"

"Nope, I'm not,"  Catlin says.  He presses the 'ignore call' button, then turns his phone off.  "We're on VACATION, remember?  Now, let's go take that ride so you can show me around."

Sue Ellen looks at her husband, the smile returning to her face.  She takes Catlin by the arm and the two go back into the house.

Ewing Oil....

John Ross is having a meeting in his office later that morning with members of the new Cartel.  Sly is pouring coffee for each of the attendees, which include Peter Ellis, Brandon Harwood, Jason Lee, Jordan Lee III, and Samantha Chambers, who had succeeded her brother Ben as President of Chambers Oil.  "Thank ya, darlin',"  says Peter Ellis.

"You're welcome,"  Sly says.  "John Ross, will there be anything else?"

"No,thank ya, Sly.  Just hold all my calls and make sure we're not disturbed."

"Will do,"  Sly says, then leaves the office.

"Now then, gentlemen, and....... lady," John Ross says, looking at Samantha Chambers with a smile.  "I appreciate y'all comin' here to discuss a problem that affects us all, and the entire oil industry.  And that problem is the next Presidential election. As we all know, everyone of those damned democratic candidates has it in for the oil industry, and a couple of them have even promised that, if elected, they'll ban fracking.  These candidates have essentially declared war on the oil and gas industry.  That old fossil Bernie Sanders even called us a criminal enterprise."

"So what exactly are you proposin', John Ross?"  Peter Ellis asks.

"That we, as an entity, throw all our support behind all Republican candidates runnin', includin' the President, because if any of the democrats win the White House, I can pretty much guarantee that we will be fightin' for the very right to exist as an industry."

"John Ross is right,"  Brandon Harwood says.  "I've been worrying about this for quite some time, and so has my mother.  Last thing we need is someone in the White House who's gonna stick us with more regulations and more taxes, not to mention put all of our companies' futures at stake."

"I'm on board with whatever plan of action you come up with, John Ross," Samantha Chambers says.

John Ross looks at the lovely young woman and  smiles.  "Well, thank you, Ms. Chambers.  Anyone else?  Pete, what do you think?"

"John Ross, I think you're absolutely right,"  Peter Ellis, the oldest of the group, replies.  "I'm 64-years-old, and I've lived through a lot of elections in my day, but I've never been THIS worried about one before.  I think this 2020 election is gonna determine the future of the oil and gas industry, so we're gonna have to do everything we can to insure that we HAVE a future."

"And you Lee boys?"  John Ross asks.

"I agree with you, John Ross,"  replies Jason Lee.

"What exactly do you have in mind, John Ross?"  Asks Jordan Lee III.

"Like I said before, we donate to candidates who have OUR best interest at heart, and I do mean donate big.  We also do all we can in the way of campaignin' for candidates that are supportive of our industry.  I also think we should form a committee.......a committee to lobby in the state legislature and in Washington if we have to.  Folks, we are fightin' for the very survival of the oil industry.  Most of us in this room are third and fourth generation oil barons, and we also have our families' legacies to protect."

"So are you proposing that we hire a lobbyist or somethin'?"  Jordan asks.

"That's exactly what I'm proposin'," John Ross replies.  "Someone to represent our interests in the capitol."

"Do you have anyone in particular in mind?"  Samantha Chambers asks.

"Not yet.  I think we should all give this some thought, and come up with a list of names."

"What about your Uncle Bobby, John Ross?"  Peter Ellis asks.  "How does he feel about it?"

"I've spoken to my Uncle Bobby in passin' about this, and he agrees with me that we need to protect our interests. But, at the moment, Peter, I am running Ewing Oil.  Uncle Bobby has been preoccupied with his stepdaughter Emma Ryland's trial and her bein' sentenced to prison, and he'll soon be tied up again when Katherine Wentworth's trial starts.  My mother has been on vacation for the past month, and my cousin Christopher has been spendin' more time at the ranch.  So, until all of them return to work full time, I make all the decisions around here."

"And I'll bet you're just lovin' that,"  Jordan says.

"It does have it's rewards.  Now then, why don't we give this some thought, and each of you come up with some names of people you think would be good to represent our interests in the capitol?  Then we can meet back here one week from today and go over the names and choose the best candidate."

"Sounds good, John Ross,"  Brandon says.

"Alright then.  Brandon, maybe your Mama'd like to join us next time?  I understand she has some very influential contacts in Washington."

"I'll ask her."

"Okay.  I'll see you back here one week from today, shall we say.......ten o'clock?"  John Ross asks.

"I'll have to check my calendar and see if I'm free then,"  says Samantha.

"So will I,"  says Peter.

"Okay, everyone let me know if ten is a good time, and if not, we'll find a time that works for everyone,"  John Ross.

"John Ross, I'm glad you called this meetin' to bring this up,"  Peter Ellis says, shaking John Ross's hand.  "Your Daddy'd be mighty proud right now."

John Ross smiles.  "I appreciate you sayin' that, Pete.  You have a good day now."

"You too,  son,"  Peter says as he leaves.

"John Ross, maybe we should have Westar in on this," Brandon Harwood says.  "I realize that Ewing Oil and Westar aren't exactly friendly, but Westar's a huge and powerful company with an awful lot of political clout.  We could sure use 'em in this."

"Brandon, the Cartel can handle this without any help from Westar."

"But,from what I understand, your brother Justin has a considerable amount of stock in Westar now that your sister Jill sold him her shares,"  Jason Lee says.  "It would only make sense to have Westar in on this."

"Jason, as I said.........we can handle this WITHOUT any help from Westar."

"Alright, John Ross, if you say so,"  Jason says.  "We'll see ya next week."

"Jason, Jordan,"  John Ross says as the Lee boys leave his office, followed by Brandon.  Once they are all gone, John Ross is alone in the office with Samantha Chambers.  "Ms. Chambers, anything else you care to discuss?" He asks.

Samantha stands from her seat on the sofa and walks over to him with a smile.  "I love how you just took charge, John Ross,"  she says.

"Well, what can I say, I'm a take charge kinda guy."

"Yes, you are, and I find that to be a VERY attractive quality in a man,"  Samantha says, placing her hands on John Ross's chest. "Handsome, sexy, and forceful.  Kinda makes you the total package, John Ross."  Samantha kisses him.

After a few seconds, John Ross pulls out of the kiss and looks at her. "Darlin', I am flattered.  And don't think I'm not tempted, but, I happen to be a very happily married man."

"So?  Your wife doesn't have to know."

"But I WOULD know.  I'm not interested in repeatin' my past mistakes."

"Okay, well, I'll back off........for now,"  Samantha says.  "I hope your wife knows how lucky she is."

"Oh, she knows,"  John Ross says.

"Well, I guess I'd better be goin', then."  Samantha walks to the door, pauses, and turns back to John Ross.  "Y'know, when I took over Chambers Oil from my brother Ben, I knew it was gonna be fun.  I didn't know just how much fun until here I was today in this meetin' with so many handsome men.  And it's just my luck that the one I wanna go to bed with is a happily married man bound and determined to stay faithful to his wife.  But, might be kinda fun to see if I can change that.  Bye, John Ross."  Samantha winks at him, then leaves.

John Ross begins to laugh after Samantha leaves.

Southfork....early afternoon....

Ann takes a pie out of the oven at Southfork and places it on the kitchen counter.  After putting the pie down, Ann looks off into space, her mind flashing back to a day several weeks ago......

*********************************FLASHBACK*********************************

San Francisco County Courthouse....Three weeks ago

Bobby, Ann, Lucas, Christopher, and Richard Channing are seated in court in San Francisco as Emma's trial is coming to a close.  "The defendant will stand and face the court,"  says the Judge.

Slowly, a terrified Emma stands from her seat at the defense table, accompanied by her attorney, Jay Smithfield.

"Emma Ryland,"  the Judge continues.  "You have been found guilty of the crimes of assault and battery, kidnapping. and reckless endangerment.  The maximum penalty for kidnapping is 8 years, and the maximum for assault and battery in this state, is up to 3 years in state prison.  I could, within my power, sentence you to a total of 11 years in state prison.  However, given your obvious remorse for your crimes, and the fact that you have a minor child, I am sentencing you to 3 years in state prison, followed by 3 years of state probation.  You will begin serving your sentence immediately."

***************************RETURN TO THE PRESENT***********************

Ann begins to cry as the judge's words pronouncing sentence on Emma continue to play out in her mind.  After a few seconds, she composes herself, then picks up her pie and moves it to the counter by the window to cool.  Lucas walks into the kitchen.  He and Ann exchange looks, then she turns away from him.

"Something smells good,"'  Lucas says.  "Apple pie?"

"Yes, I just made it.  It's got to cool before it's cut,"  Ann says, her tone somewhat cool and harsh with her stepson.

Lucas sighs deeply.  "Look, Ann, I know you still hate me for my testimony at Emma's trial.  But, I'd hoped....."

"I don't hate you, Lucas,"  Ann says.  "I could never hate you.  I hate that my daughter is spendin' the next 3 years in prison.  I hate what Emma did to you.  I hate this whole damned mess.  All you did was tell the truth.  And you did ask the judge for leniency.  For that, I thank you."

"I didn't wanna Emma to go to prison for years and years,"  Lucas says.  "I did at first.  I even tried to hate Emma, but I couldn't.  She's Logan's mother, after all."

Ann looks at him.  "Lucas, I'm sorry that things have been..........awkward.........between us since Emma's trial."

"Ann, it's okay, you don't have to......"

"Lucas, please, hear me out.  Things have been awkward between us since the trial, and I want you to know that it's not because of you, or what you said at the trial.  It's because of........it's because of the shame I feel over what Emma did to you.  And what I did to you.  I helped Emma keep the secret about Logan bein' your son from you for over two years.  And for that, I am sorry.  I thought that I was protectin' my daughter."

"Protecting her from me?"  Lucas asks.

"No, of course not.  Emma was terrified of losin' her relationship with Kevin if he found out the truth about Logan.  I was caught in the middle, and I didn't know what to do."

"It's the past, lets' just try and forget about it and move on.  Right now, I've got other, more important things to worry about than what happened in the past."

Ann nods.  "I know.  Heather."

"Yes.  Heather, and trying to raise Logan on my own."

"Oh, Lucas, raisin' Logan alone is NOT somethin' you will ever have to worry about,"  Ann says.  "I'll always be here to help you.....if you'll accept my help."

Lucas looks at her and smiles.  "Of course, I'll accept it.  I'm gonna need all the help I can get, and who better to help me than Logan's grandmother?"

Ann smiles and reaches over to take Lucas's hand just as Bobby walks in.  "Boy, it smells good in here."

"I just finished an apple pie,"  Ann says.  "I got another one in the other oven that should be ready soon."

"Apple pie sounds like Heaven to me," says Bobby.  "I'll get washed up for lunch."  Bobby kisses Ann, then leaves the kitchen.  As he walks into the foyer and starts upstairs, the front doorbell rings.  Bobby walks over and opens the door to find a dark haired young man in his late teens.  "May I help you?"

"Mr. Ewing?"  The young man asks in a slight Hispanic accent.

"Yes, I'm Bobby Ewing.  What can I do for you?"

"My name is Ricky Hernandez.  And, I have heard that you are hiring here at Southfork for a ranch hand."

"Well, you heard right,"  says Bobby.

"I am here to apply for the job."

"Please, come in."  The boy walks into the house, and Bobby closes the door.  "So.......Ricky.......how old are you?"

"I am 17."

"Have you ever worked on a ranch before?"  Bobby asks.

"Yes, I have.  In South Texas and in Mexico.  I am very strong, Mr. Ewing, and very eager to work.  I would really like the chance to prove it."

"Well, Ricky, tell ya what.  Come into my office, and we'll talk."

The boy smiles, then follows Bobby to his office.

The Krebbs Ranch....

Dylan is working on a fence on the Krebbs Ranch that afternoon when Ashley drives her car out to the pasture and comes to a stop near where he is working.  Getting out of her car, Ashley walks over to him carrying a picnic basket.  "Hi," she says.

"Hey, there.  What have you got?"  Dylan asks.

"Lunch.  I stopped at the  house and Conner told me you were out here."

"I was just about to head back to the house for lunch, but, I'd much rather have lunch here with you."

Ashley smiles.  "Well, perfect timing."

"You always have perfect timing,"  Dylan says.

"Yes, I do,"  Ashley says as she begins to kiss him.

"Hey, hold up, I'm all sweaty."

"I don't care.  You're sexy when you're all sweaty from hard work.  But, first thing's first.  Are you hungry?"

"Starving."

"Then come on.  Let's go to the swing and eat.  I have some fried chicken, corn on the cob and and fruit cups for desert."

"Oh, wow, I was HOPING you brought some of your fried chicken,"  Dylan says.  "That chicken is actually one of the things that made me fall in love with you."

"Really, now.  Well, I'm glad my Mom taught me how to make it this way."  She kisses

Dylan again, then the two walk over to the swing facing the small pond and take seats.  Ashley opens the picnic basket and begins taking the food out, along with some paper plates.  "Speaking of my Mom, she called me this morning, and guess what."

"What?"

"Mom and my baby sister Eve are coming for a visit,"  Ashleys says.  "They're gonna be here in a couple of days."

"Hey, that's great.......I think."

"What do you mean, 'you think'?  I can't wait for my Mom to meet you."

"That's what worries me,"  Dylan says.  "Do you think she'll like me?"

"She's gonna LOVE you, just like I do."

Dylan sighs.  "I hope you're right."

"Dylan, I AM right.  What's not to love about you?  You're smart, you're a hard worker, you're drop dead gorgeous, and, best of all.........you make me happier than I've ever been in my life.  For that reason alone, my Mom is gonna adore you.  Now let's eat this before it gets cold."

Dylan looks at Ashley as she continues unpacking the picnic basket.  He manages a weak smile, but inside, he is privately worried about Ashley's mother coming to visit and meeting him.  Dylan can't help but wonder if Debra Lynn Beaumont will have a problem with him dating her daughter because of his past.

La Petit Maison French Restaurant....later....

Lucy, Krystina, and Courtney are finishing a late lunch at Dallas's elegant La Petit Maison French restaurant later in the afternoon.  "I am absolutely stuffed," Lucy says as the three women are about to leave.

"Me, too, I can't remember the last time I ate so  much,"  says Krystina.

"Well, the food here is so delicious you can't help but stuff yourself,"  Courtney says.  "Lucy, thank you for inviting us to lunch."

"Hey, it was my pleasure.  We need to do more of these girls' lunches."

"I'm definitely down for that,"  says Krystina.

Lucy and Courtney look at her strangely.  "You're DOWN for it?"  Lucy asks.

"That's what Alex says.....it means I'm on board with it."

Courtney looks up as the three are about to exit the restaurant and Shawn Smith walks in.  Spotting the Ewing women, Shawn walks over.

"Well, if it isn't the lovely Ewing women,"  Shawn says.

"Hello, Shawn, how are you?"  Krystina asks.

"I'm doin' great.  Life actually couldn't get much better for me than it is right now.  Hello, Courtney."

"Hello, Shawn,"  Courtney says, feeling terribly awkward running into the young man who still has  no idea that he is her half-brother.

"Obviously being the youngest CEO in Westar's history is agreeing with you,"  Lucy says.

Shawn smiles.  "Oh, trust me, it IS.  I'm having a ball.  Courtney, how's Jacob doing these days?  Is he fully recovered from his surgery?"

"Yes, he's fine,"  Courtney says.

"Well, that's good,"  Shawn says as Brad Stone walks into the  restaurant.  Brad walks over to them.

"Well, well, if it isn't Cliff Barnes, Jr.,"  Lucy says.

"I'll take that as a compliment,"  says Brad.

"Well, if you ladies will excuse us,"  Shawn says.

"Gladly,"  Krystina says.  She, Courtney, and Lucy walk past Shawn and Brad and leave the restaurant. After exiting, the women head to Lucy's car, parked on the street in front of the restaurant.

"Hey, Courtney, are you alright?"  Lucy asks.

"I'm fine.  Why do you ask?"

"Well, you got quiet, and you got this strange look on your face when we were talking to Shawn,"  Krystina says.

"Yeah, I'm......fine........really.  I was just thinking, that's all.  Why don't we get back to the ranch?"

"Good idea,"  Lucy says as the three women get into her car.

Justin and Pamela's apartment....that evening....

Justin walks into his and Pamela's apartment that evening as darkness begins to fall over the city of Dallas.  "Honey?" He calls out as he walks in.  "Pamela, I'm home."

Pamela comes down the hall and walks into the living room.  "Hi,"  she says, greeting her husband with a kiss.  "How'd it go?"

"It went fine, but I sure never realized there was so much I had to learn about Westar."

"Is all that really necessary?"  Pamela asks.  "You're just a shareholder in the company, it's not like you're planning on going to work there......does it?"

"No, of course not,"  Justin replies.  "But I am a major shareholder in the comp'ny, and  I figure I need to learn as  much about Westar and  the oil business as I can."

"Damn that Jill,"  Pamela angrily says.  "I honestly think she sold you that Westar stock just to spite me."

"Now, Pamela, you know that's  not true.  Jill sold the stock to me to keep John Ross from gettin' it and bein' able to use it to start a war with Shawn Smith and your brother."

"Still, it was a terrible idea."

Justin puts his arms around her.  "Darlin', it's gonna be okay.  All I gotta do is attend a couple board meetin's a year, and just sit back and let all that stock bring in a real hefty income.  I have no other interest in Westar."

"I still just have  a bad feeling about this, Justin,"  Pamela says.  "What's gonna happen when Westar comes up against Ewing Oil in a business deal?  It's not bad enough that my brother works there, but now Jill has put my husband  right in the middle of the Westar-Ewing Oil war."

"Pamela, I'm not in the middle of anything, and I'm not gonna be, so stop worryin'."

"I can't help it.  It's a feeling I have."

"Look, darlin', things have been real quiet and peaceful between Westar and Ewing for months now, right?"

"Yes, TOO quiet and peaceful,"  Pamela says.  "I just have this gut feeling that it's only gonna be a matter of time before those two companies are gonna be right back at war with each other again, and I don't want you getting caught in the middle."

"I'm NOT gonna get caught in the middle,"  Justin says.  "Whatever happens, I plan to stay neutral.  I'm gonna stay out of it and not take sides."

"You think it's really gonna be that simple?"

"It will be.  Look, I'm gonna go take  a shower, and then why don't I take my gorgeous wife and my two adorable sons out to dinner?  How does Perry's sound?"

Pamela smiles.  "Sounds good, but, would you mind if we went to my Mom's lounge instead?  It'd be a nice surprise for her, us dropping by for dinner with the boys."

"Okay, Afton's it is.  I'll be  out in a few minutes,"  Justin says, leaving the room.

Southfork....

John Ross's car drives up to Southfork and comes to a stop that night.  A couple of minutes later, he walks into the den, where Bobby is pouring himself a drink.  "Evenin', Uncle Bobby,"  John Ross says.

"Evenin', John Ross..  You're gettin' home a little late."

"I had a meetin' downtown.  I called Krystina and told her I'd be late."

"You wanta drink?"

"Yes.  Bourbon, please.  I had a meetin' this mornin' with the Cartel about that thing you and I discussed a week or so ago,"  John Ross says.

"You mean about next year's election?"  Bobby asks.

"Yes, and how important that election will be to the future of the oil industry."

"And what'd the boys say?"

"The boys, and GIRL, are on board with my idea of backin' candidates sympathetic to our cause and doin' everything we can to insure that those opposed to the oil and  gas industry, lose."

"Girl?"  Bobby asks.

"Yes.  Samantha Chambers.  She took over Chambers Oil when her brother was forced to step down last month as a result of that sexual harassment claim a couple of the girls who worked in his company filed against him."

"Well, I'm happy the Cartel is with us on this,"  Bobby says as Krystina walks into the room, followed by Lucas.

"I thought I heard my handsome husband's voice in here,"  Krystina says, greeting John Ross with a kiss.  "How'd your meeting go?"

"Went great."

"Lucas, how's Heather?"  Bobby asks.

"Says she's gonna eat in our room again.  I think I'll eat in our room with her."

"Lucy, Courtney, and I went shopping and had lunch in town today, and we asked Heather to come along,"  Krystina says.  "But she said she wasn't feeling up to it.  We thought it might help to get her out of the house."

"I appreciate you trying,"  Lucas says.

"Anything to help,"  Krystina says as Christopher and Ann walk in.

"Dinner'll be ready soon,"  Ann says.

"Good, because I am famished,"  says Bobby.

"Hey, where's Courtney?"  Christopher asks.

"I think she's still up in your room,"  Krystina replies.  "We went shopping and then had lunch today, and she's seemed bothered about something ever since."

"Thanks, I'll go up and check on her,"  Christopher says, leaving the room.

Meanwhile, Courtney is upstairs in her and Christopher's bedroom looking at photos of her father, and her brothers Gavin and Ben.  A tear falls down her cheek as she looks at Ben's photo.  After a moment, Courtney places Ben's photo on the table beside the bed just as Christopher walks into the bedroom.

"Hey," he says.

"Hi."

"Dinner's gonna be ready in a few minutes,"  Christopher says.  "Krystina said that you seemed like something's bothering you.  Anything wrong?"

"I went to lunch with Lucy and Krystina today, and we ran into Shawn."

"I see.  Still awkward for you, huh?  Seeing him?"

"Yes, it's awkward,"  Courtney says.  "Shawn is my half-brother, Christopher.  Every time I see him, I'm reminded that my father cheated on my mother more than the one time we already knew about, with Ben's mother.  And not only that, Shawn is the product of an affair that my father had with his best friend's wife."

"You always knew that your father was no saint."

"I know.  I also can't help but.........every time I see Shawn, it's all I can do to keep from telling him the truth."

"Maybe you should tell him the truth, that Andrew is his father,"  Christopher says.

"I can't do that."

Meanwhile, as Christopher and Courtney continue to talk, Alex comes down the stairs from his bedroom in the attic, and as he passes by Christopher and Courtney's slightly open bedroom door, he hears them.  Curious, he pauses outside the door and listens.

"Courtney, don't you think Shawn Smith has a right to know who his real father is?"  Christopher asks.

"Of course, I think Shawn has a right to know, but it's not MY place to tell him, Christopher."

"Why isn't it?  Shawn's your half-brother, Courtney.  It's pretty obvious your father is never gonna tell him, and neither is Shawn's mother."

"Christopher, can you imagine what this would do to him?  Shawn grew up believing that Ann's brother Mark

Smith was his father.  He's already lost Mark once.  It would probably crush him to find out that Mark wasn't his father.  It'd be like him losing Mark all over again.  I can't do that to him."

"Secrets like this always have a way of coming out, Courtney,"  Christopher says.  "One way or another, the truth always comes out."

Standing outside their bedroom door, Alex smiles at the juicy tidbit he has just overheard.  Quietly, he walks away and  heads downstairs.  A few seconds later, he walks into the den, where Bobby, Ann, John Ross, Krystina, and now Lucy and Mitch are having before dinner drinks.

"Mitch, we're so glad you could join us for dinner tonight,"  Ann says.

"Thank you, Ann."

"We kinda thought your son Daniel might join us, too,"  Bobby says.

"No, Daniel had to work tonight."

"He probably wouldn't have come anyway,"  Lucy says.

"What do you mean, Lucy?"  Asks Bobby.

"Daniel's not too happy about Lucy and I seeing each other again,"  Mitch replies.

"Ha!  That's putting it mildly," Lucy says.

"But I'm sure in time, he'll come around," says Mitch.

Meanwhile, across the room, John Ross is pouring himself another bourbon at the bar when Alex walks up to him.  "After dinner, meet me outside on the patio,"  Alex whispers to his father.

"Why, what's up?"  John Ross asks.

"Can't tell you here.  But trust me, it's somethin' you're gonna wanna know,"  Alex replies, then walks away, leaving John Ross curious.

An hour later....

John Ross walks onto the patio after dinner that night.  Alex is standing on the patio by the pool, and John Ross walks over to him.  "Okay, what's this all about?  All durin' dinner you looked like a kid with some big secret you couldn't wait to blab."

"That's because I AM  kid with a big secret I can't wait to blab to you."

"Well?  What's this big secret?"

"You're never guess what I overheard about Westar's new CEO tonight,"  Alex says.

"Shawn?  What about him?"

"Well, it seems that Shawn and I have something in common,"  Alex says.  "We were both born on the wrong side of the sheets, as the old saying goes."

"Alex, what the hell are you talkin' about?"  John Ross asks.

"I overheard Christopher and Courtney talking. And, it seems that Ann's brother Mark Smith was NOT Shawn's father.  And, you'll never guess who his real daddy is."

"You're right, I won't.  So who is he?"

"Andrew Murray,"  Alex replies.

"Andrew Murray?  Who the hell is........wait a second.  Andrew Murray?  Itn't that........"

"Courtney's father,"  Alex says with a smile and a nod.

"Wait, you're tellin' me that.......Courtney and Shawn have the same father?  They're brother and sister?"

"Yep.  And here's the real juicy part........Shawn doesn't even know.  He has no idea that his real daddy wasn't Mark Smith."

John Ross nods.  "Well, now this is a juicy little piece of gossip."

"I thought so, too.  I also thought maybe it could be of some use at some point."

"Good thinkin', son,"  John Ross says with a smile.  "I think we can definitely use this at some point down the road." John Ross places his hand on his son's shoulder.  "I'm real proud of you, Alex.  You're provin' yourself to be my son and a Ewing more and more all the time."

Alex nods and smiles.

The Krebbs Ranch....the next morning....

Donna is pouring a cup of coffee the next morning when a smiling Ray walks into the kitchen.  "Mornin'," he says, kissing his wife.  "Mmmm, somethin' smells good."

"Good morning, and thank you.  We've got sausage and ham, and biscuits."

"Biscuits like only you can make 'em,"  Ray says.

"You're in a good mood this morning,"  says Donna.

"Got no reason not to be.  Especially now that you and I are back on track.  I think things are gonna be okay from here on in.  Plus, I just got off the phone with Heath.  Things are goin' real well down in Galveston, and Heath's gonna be comin' up to Dallas in a few days."

Donna looks at her husband, the smile fading from her face.  "Heath is comin' to Dallas?"

"That's right.  Y'know, Donna, I'm real proud of that boy.  The way he's handled our development project down in Galveston.  My son's gonna do real well for himself."

"I'm sure he will,"  Donna says, placing a plate of ham on the table.

Conner and Dylan walk into the kitchen.  "Good morning,"  Conner says.

"Mornin' you, two,"  says Ray.  "Dylan, you finish that fence yesterday?"

"Yep, I sure did."

"Good.  Today I'm gonna need you boys to run into Braddock and pick up some feed and a few supplies.  I got everything we're gonna need written down."

"Sure thing, Ray,"  Conner says, taking a seat at the table.

"Dylan, are you alright?"  Donna asks.  "You're kinda quiet this morning."

"Yeah, I just have some things on my mind."

"What kinda things?"  Ray asks.

"You and Ashley didn't have a fight, did you?"  Conner asks.

"No, we didn't have a fight,"  Dylan replies.  "Ashley told me yesterday that her mother is coming for a visit."

Ray smiles.  "Debra Lynn's comin'?  Well, that's great."

"So why are you so down in the mouth about that?"  Donna asks.

"I'm just a little worried that Ashley's Mom won't like me."

"Now, Dylan, that's just crazy,"  Ray says.

"Why wouldn't she like you?"  Conner asks.

Dylan sighs.  "Well, let's see.......I'm an alcoholic.  I spent several months in a mental hospital for trying to kill her brother-in-law, John Ross.  When I was drunk, I got behind the wheel of a car and almost killed John Ross's son and his girlfriend. And, last year, I spent several months in a rehab and detox center.  I don't exactly have the kind of history a mother would look favorably on in her daughter's boyfriend."

"All that stuff is in the past,"  says Ray.  "You're a different person now."

"An alcoholic's problems are never truly gone.  That's one thing they taught us at the Hagman Center, and one thing they constantly emphasize in AA.  Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic."

"Yes, but while that's true, alcoholics can gain control over their lives and their addiction,"  says Donna.  "Sue Ellen is a perfect example of that."

"Yeah, you should've known her during her marriage to J.R.,"  Ray says.  "She was a real mess back then.  But once she broke free of him, she got control over her own life and became successful in her own right."

"Yeah, but she did have a relapse a few years ago."

"Yes, she did, but look at her now.  She's back on track."

Donna takes a seat at the table.  "Dylan, listen to me.  You are a wonderful, smart, sensitive, caring, compassionate, young man.  Not to mention very handsome.  Ashley obviously sees how special you are, and so will her mother.  Just be yourself.  Your own sweet, lovable self."

Dylan smiles.  "Be myself.  I'll try.  But what if Ashley's Mom still doesn't like me and doesn't think I'm good enough for her daughter."

"Well, it's really not up to her, anyway,"  Conner says.  "Ashley's 20-years-old, which means she's an adult.  Her mother can't tell her who to date and who not to date."

"Maybe not, but Ashley loves and respects her mother very much, and if her mother doesn't like me.......well, last thing I'd wanna do is cause any problems between them."

Ray reaches over and places his hand on Dylan's shoulder.  "Don't worry.  Everything's gonna be okay.  I'm sure Debra Lynn's gonna love you."

Ewing Oil....

Sly buzzes John Ross's office.  "John Ross, C.J. Ewing is here to see you."

Sitting at his desk, John Ross sighs.  "Alright, Sly, send him in."  John Ross gets up from his seat and walks over to his bar, then pours himself a glass of bourbon.  A few seconds later, C.J. walks in.  "Well, what the hell do YOU want?"  John Ross asks.

"I heard you had a meeting with the Cartel here yesterday,"  C.J. says.

"So?"  John Ross asks, taking a sip of his drink.

"So why the hell wasn't I included in that meeting?"  C.J. asks.  "Catlin Oil is a member of The Cartel, you know."

"Because you weren't needed, simple as that.  We had a problem, we all got together and discussed the problem, then came up with a game plan to deal with it.  Case closed."

"John Ross, this is the third time that I've been excluded from a meeting of The Cartel since you've been running Ewing Oil, and I'm sick of it."

"And just what the hell do you plan to do about it?"  John Ross asks.  "Let me explain somethin' to you, C.J., so that even your simple mind can understand.  Ewing Oil is the largest company in the Cartel, which makes us the leader of the Cartel.  And since I am not running Ewing Oil in the absence of my Uncle Bobby, my Mama, and my cousin Christopher, that makes ME the head of The Cartel, and I can run it any way I see fit."

"As a member of The Cartel, I have every right to be included in those meetings."

"Well, I guess it's a mute point now, anyway,"  says John Ross.  "My Mama and Catlin are gonna be back from their little vacation today, and I'm sure your Daddy's gonna want his office back.  Catlin itn't one of my favorite people, but I'd rather deal with him any day than you."

"You listen to me, John Ross,"  C.J. says.  "I may have to put up with you because my father is married to your mother, but I don't like you."

"And the feelin' is definitely mutual,"  says John Ross.

"Well, you'd better get use to me because I'm not going anywhere.  I am vice president of Catlin Oil, and as my father has decided to take more time off to enjoy time with Sue Ellen, I'm gonna be running the company more. Now I'm a member of The Cartel, and I have every right to be included in every meeting, and in every decision The Cartel makes.  The next time this happens, I'm gonna go straight to Sue Ellen or to Bobby."

"I always figured you for a cry baby."

"Mark my words, John Ross........start treating me with the same respect you give the rest of The Cartel........or I'll make you sorry."

"You threatenin' me, C.J.?  Because if you are, you'd better make damn sure you know who you're makin' threats against.  I can destroy your little comp'ny without even workin' up a sweat."

"You're underestimating me, John Ross.  Keep doing it, and I'll show you that I'm capable of playing just as dirty as you."

"Get the hell out of my office,"  John Ross says.

"The next time The Cartel has a meeting......I expect to be there,"  C.J. says, then abruptly leaves.

John Ross takes a sip of his drink.  "Boy, you just made a big mistake," he says.  "Nobody threatens me and gets away with it."

A couple of minutes later downstairs, the elevator doors open into the lobby and C.J. steps off.  He takes his cell phone from his pocket and dials a number.  On the second ring, someone answers.  "It's C.J. Ewing.  I need a meeting with you, ASAP.  1 o'clock is fine.  My office? I'll order in some lunch.  Fine, I'll see you there."  C.J. puts his phone back into his pocket and leaves the building.

Southfork....

Heather is sitting in the living room at Southfork alone, staring blankly into space, when Lucy walks into the room.  "Hi, Heather,"  Lucy cheerfully greets her, but Heather continues to stare into space as if she doesn't hear her.  "I said.......HI, Heather,"  Lucy repeats, but again, gets no response.  Lucy walks over to her and touches her on the shoulder, finally snapping Heather out of her daydream.

"Huh?  What?"  Asks a confused Heather.

"I said, hi."

"Oh, hi, Lucy."

"Heather, are you alright?"  Lucy asks, taking a seat on the sofa beside her.

"Sure, I'm fine,"  Heather replies.

"No, I don't think you are, honey.  Heather, talk to me.  Tell me what's on your mind."

"Same thing that's been on my mind for the past two months," Heather says.

"The baby?"

Heather nods.

"Heather, I think I understand how you feel, but....."

"No, Lucy, you DON'T," Heather says.  "You don't know how I feel."

"Yes, actually, I do.  You know about my abortion."

"Yes, I do, but Lucy, that's different.  You CHOSE to end your pregnancy.  I didn't."

"You're right, I did,"  Lucy says.  "And I've regretted that decision every day of my life since.  But you know, if you don't think that I know how you feel, then Courtney does.  She went through a miscarriage just last year, so why don't you talk to her about this?"

"It's still not the same, Lucy.  Courtney and Christopher can still have other children."

"Well, so can you and Lucas."

"No.  I can't go through this again," says Heather.  "I can't risk another pregnancy with this condition I have."

"Heather, didn't the doctor say that, there's a very good chance that you could get pregnant again and have a perfectly healthy baby?"

"There's a 50/50 chance.  But it's a chance I can't take.  I wanted so much to give Lucas a child.......a child whose life he could be a part of from the very beginning.  I stole that chance from him when Michael was born, just like Emma stole that from him with Logan."

Lucy reaches over and touches her hand.  "Heather, you said that I don't know what you're feeling right now.  But that's where you're very wrong.  Heather, my abortion that I had rendered me unable to have children.  I didn't know it at the time because after the abortion the doctor assured me that I would be able to get pregnant again.  But then after Mitch and I got married the second time, we started trying to have a baby.  But we were unsuccessful.  That's when I had some tests done, and the doctor in Atlanta told me that there was some damage caused by my abortion.  Scar tissue or something like that, and that I would never be able to get pregnant again.  I was devastated.  I sank into a deep depression just like you, and that put a severe strain on our marriage.  Mitch threw himself into his work and neglected me to the point that we no longer even communicated.  And that's why we separated."

Heather looks at Lucy with tears in her eyes.  "And how did you cope?  How did you cope with the fact that you could never have children?"

"To tell ya the truth, I didn't cope,"  Lucy says.  "I kept everything bottled up inside of me for years and years, and, like Mitch had done, I threw myself into my work.  In a way I became married to my work.  It wasn't until I was older......in fact, not until I was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago that it really started to bother me.  But Heather, my situation is totally different from yours, even though I know a little about what you're feeling right now.  You have so much more than I could ever hope for.  You have Michael, and that's something you need to hold on to. I'd give anything......ANYTHING......if I had a child of my own to hold on to.  My child, the  child I aborted, would be 36-years-old now.  He or she might even have children of their own.  Imagine that, I could be a grandmother by now.  Heather, what happened to you, was tragic.  But you've got to stop blaming yourself.  You had a miscarriage.  That's about the worst thing that can happen to a woman.  But the miscarriage was NOT your fault, and neither was the condition you had that caused your pregnancy to be risky.  And the sooner you realize that, the sooner you're gonna be able to start healing from this."

"I don't feel like I'm ever gonna heal from this, Lucy,"  Heather says in tears.

"But honey, you will.  You WILL heal.  The pain of losing your baby will always be there.  The emptiness will be there.  But you will heal, and in time the pain will become less.  Even though it will never completely go away, it will hurt less with time."

"Oh, Lucy,"  Heather says, crying.  "It just hurts so much."

"I know,"  Lucy says, putting her arms around Heather as she cries.  "I know it does.  But you're gonna be okay. You have a loving husband and son, and a whole family who are gonna see you through.  I promise."

Meanwhile....the stables....

Christopher, Michael, and Jacob are returning on horseback to the stables after taking a ride out on the ranch.  "Hey, both you guys are gettin' really good.  Pretty soon, I wouldn't be surprised if you guys were good enough to compete in a Ewing Rodeo."

"That would be AWESOME!"  Michael says.  "Ya hear that, Domino?  We could be ridin' in a rodeo one day soon."

"Maybe we'll have a rodeo here at Southfork soon," Christopher says.

"Really?"  Jacob asks.

"Well, I'll talk to your Grandpa about it.  We're about due for another Ewing Rodeo."

"You think Michael and I can be in it?"  Jacob asks.

"Sure, why not?  We'll have a kids competition or somethin',"  Christopher says as they bring their horses to a stop at the stables.

The new young ranch hand, Ricky, is working at the stables when Christopher and the boys return.  Ricky watches as the three climb down from their horses.  Christopher takes the reigns of his horse and leads the animal to the stable where Ricky is working.

"Excuse me,"  Christopher says to the young ranch hand.  "Could you take care of my horse for me?"

"Yes, sir."

"You must be the new ranch hand....... Ricky, isn't it?"

"Yes, sir, I am,"  Ricky replies.

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Ricky.  My Dad told me about you.  I'm Christopher Ewing.  This is my son Jacob, and my nephew, Michael."

"Oh, Mr. Ewing, it is very nice to meet you,"  Ricky says.

"Yeah, nice to meet you, too.  Y'know, Ricky, you look awfully familiar.  Have we met before?"

"No, sir, I do not think so,"  Ricky nervously replies.

"Where are you from?"  Christopher asks.

"I grew up in Laredo."

Christopher smiles.  "Well, Ricky, welcome to Southfork, and I hope you'll be very happy here."

"Thank you, Mr. Ewing,"  Ricky says.

"Why don't you call me Christopher?"

"Yes, sir......Christopher."

"Come on, guys,"  Christopher says to Jacob and Michael.  "Let's get back to the house and get cleaned up for lunch.  See ya later, Ricky."

The young ranch hand nods.  Ricky watches them as Christopher, Michael, and Jacob begin walking toward the mansion.  A strange look of anger, even contempt comes over the young man's face as he continues to watch Christopher and the two boys as they walk away, smiling and chatting about plans for a possible upcoming rodeo at Southfork.

Catlin Oil....

"Well, that lunch was delicious,"  Jason Lee says to C.J. as he, his nephew Jordan Lee III, and Brandon Harwood are meeting with C.J. at Catlin Oil that afternoon.

"Sure was," says Brandon.

"I figured you guys might enjoy a steak lunch catered from The Cattlemen's Club," C.J. says.

"Well, why didn't we all just meet for lunch at The Cattlemen's Club instead of in your office?"  Jordan asks.

"Yeah, why the secrecy?"  Asks Jason.

"And if this is a meeting of the Cartel, then shouldn't John Ross be here?"  Brandon asks.

"Guys, the reason I called you here is because I didn't want us to be seen, especially at a place like The Cattlemen's Club.  And the reason I called you all here was to discuss a problem we all have.  And that problem.....is John Ross Ewing, which is why I didn't invite Peter Ellis or Samantha Chamebers to this meeting.  I feel I can trust the three of you, where as Peter and Samantha, I believe, are unyieldingly loyal to Ewing Oil and to John Ross."

"What about John Ross?" Brandon asks.

"John Ross is on a ego trip. He thinks that, just because Ewing Oil is the largest company in The Cartel, that automatically makes him the head of The Cartel, but we've never formally elected an official leader.  I think it's time we did."

"You're not just sore because John Ross left you out of that meeting the other day, are you?"  Brandon asks.  "Trying to get back at him?"

"To be perfectly honest, yeah,"  C.J. replies.  "I'm angry because, as a member of The Cartel, I had every right to be included in that meeting and in ALL meetings and all decisions made by The Cartel.  John Ross purposely excluded me from that meeting out of spite.  I also hear he's been throwing his weight around with the rest of you, too."

"You're right, he has,"  Jason says.

"C.J., if you're having a problem with John Ross, why not just go to Sue Ellen and ask her to reel her son in?"  Jordan asks.  "She IS your stepmother, after all."

"I thought about that, but, the last thing I wanna do is cause problems between my father and Sue Ellen by putting them in the middle of this."

"So, what is it you're suggesting, C.J.?"  Jordan asks.

"The Cartel has never held any kind of formal election to choose an official leader," replies C.J.  "We simply let Ewing Oil lead because they are the largest company.  That was fine as long as Bobby and Sue Ellen were at the head of the company.  But now Bobby has taken a leave from Ewing Oil to deal with personal and family issues, and Sue Ellen has stepped back from the company to spend some time with my father, over the summer.  And in their absence, John Ross has been on a power trip.  What I'm suggesting is that we have an election.  That we vote on an official leader for The Cartel, and that we draw up a set of bylaws."

"What if John Ross doesn't agree to this?"  Jordan asks.

"Are you kidding me?"  Asks C.J.  "There's no way in hell John Ross is gonna agree to any of this, but, if the rest of us DO agree that we need a set of bylaws and to elect an official head of The Cartel, then John Ross will have no choice but to go along with it.  After all, he was never officially chosen as head of The Cartel.  He appointed HIMSELF our de facto leader."

"C.J.'s right,"  Brandon says.  "I never cared for the idea of John Ross acting as head of The Cartel."

"Then we're all in agreement?" C.J. asks.

"As far as I'm concerned, yes," Jason says.  "We're in agreement."

"How about you, Jordan?"  C.J. asks.

Jordan hesitates for a moment before replying, remembering John Ross's past threats to use information on Jordan to force him to vote John Ross's way.

"Jordan, are you with us?"  Brandon asks.

"Yeah, I, uh, I suppose,"  Jordan finally replies.

"Good, then we're all in agreement,"  says C.J.  "We have a meeting with the other Cartel members, and we vote to choose an official leader."

Sue Ellen and Catlin's home....late afternoon....

Catlin and Sue Ellen walk into their home that afternoon carrying their suitcases.  "As much as I miss the peace and tranquility of the Southern Cross, I have to admit it's good to be home,"  Sue Ellen says.

"Yes, it is,"  agrees Catlin.

"Mr. and Mrs. Ewing, welcome home," says the maid, Brenda, as she walks into the foyer.

"Oh, thank you, Brenda,"  Sue Ellen says.

"How was your vacation?"

"It was wonderful.  Very relaxing and refreshing," replies Sue Ellen.

"We miss anything interesting around here while we were gone, Brenda?"  Catlin asks.

"Oh, nothing terribly interesting, Mr. Ewing,"  Brenda says.

"Brenda, could you please take our bags upstairs?" Sue Ellen asks.

"Yes, Mrs. Ewing."

"Thank you,"  Sue Ellen says as Catlin's cell phone rings.

Taking his phone from his pocket, he looks at it.

"Who is it?"  Sue Ellen asks.

"It's Donna Love,"  replies Catlin.

"Oh, I almost forgot,"  Brenda says.  "Ms. Love has called here 3 times over the past couple of days.  Said she'd been trying to reach you."

"I'd better see what she wants, then,"  Catlin says.  "Excuse me."  He walks out of the room to answer his call, leaving Sue Ellen with an annoyed expression on her face.

"Brenda, did Ms. Love say what she wanted with Mr. Ewing?"  Sue Ellen asks.

"No, ma'am, she only said it was urgent that Mr. Ewing return her calls as soon as possible,"  Brenda says, then she takes three of Catlin and Sue Ellen's bags up the stairs.

A moment later, Catlin returns.  "Well, what did the helpless and aging damsel in distress want?"  Sue Ellen asks.

"She wants to meet with me,"  Catlin replies.

"What?  NOW?  Catlin, we just got home."

"She wanted to meet now, but I told her first thing tomorrow morning in my office at Catlin Oil."

"She certainly didn't waste any time, did she?" Sue Ellen asks.

"Sue Ellen, what do you mean by that?"

"Donna Love must have known that we were getting back to Dallas this afternoon.  Her timing is perfect."

Catlin sighs deeply. "Sue Ellen, look, if you don't want me to help Donna anymore, then I won't.  I'll tell her to hire someone else to teach her about modern business."

"Catlin, I wouldn't dream of pressuring you into stopping your business association with Donna Love.  I think you know how I feel about that, but, if you do end your arrangement with her, I want it to be YOUR decision because you want to, not because you feel pressured by me to do so.  Now, I think I'll go and call John Ross and Bobby and let them know we're home."

"Fine.  I need to call C.J., too,"  says Catlin.  As Sue Ellen starts to leave the foyer, Catlin walks over and takes his wife by the arm.  "Sue Ellen, how many times do I have to tell you......you have NOTHING to worry about as far as Donna and I are concerned.  She and I were a long, LONG time ago.  After all this time, don't you trust me?"

Sue Ellen places her hand against her husband's cheek.  "Oh, my darling,"  she says.  "I trust you implicitly.  It's Donna Love that I don't trust."  Sue Ellen turns and leaves the room.

Southfork....that evening....

John Ross walks into the den at Southfork that evening where Bobby, Ann, Catlin, Sue Ellen, Christopher, Courtney, Justin, and Pamela are having before dinner drinks.  "Well, good evening, fam'ly,"  John Ross says as he enters the room and walks over to his mother.  "Mama, welcome home," he says, embracing her.

"Thank you, John Ross."

"How was your little month long vacation at The Southern Cross?"

"It was wonderful.  Catlin and I had the best time."

"Yeah, I even did a lot of fishing in a couple of the ponds on the ranch there,"  says Catlin.

"I'll bet you're real happy you held on to the ranch, huh?"  Christopher asks his aunt.

"Yes, I am.  And John Ross,, you know that you're perfectly welcome to go down and spend some time at The Southern Cross whenever you'd like,"  Sue Ellen says.  "That goes for all of you.  Just consider it a Ewing family vacation home."

"Well, thank you, Sue Ellen,"  Bobby says.  "Ann and I might just take you up on that one of these weekends real soon.  Maybe after Katherine's trial is over."

"Yeah, what's the status on that?"  Pamela asks.  "Do you know an exact date Katherine's trial will start?"

"Yes, according to the District Attorney, Katherine's trial is set to begin a week from this Monday."

"I'll bet you're both lookin' forward to gettin' that behind you, huh?"  Justin asks.

"I'm MORE than ready,"  Ann replies.

"Hey, where's Krystina?"  John Ross asks.

"She's upstairs,"  Ann replies.  "She's gettin' ready for dinner."

"Well, if y'all will excuse me, I think I'll go up and spend a few minutes with my beautiful wife, change, and come down for dinner,"  John Ross says.  He turns and leaves the room.

"Hey, John Ross, wait a second,"  Justin says, following his brother into the foyer.

John Ross pauses at the stairs, sighs, and turns to him.  "What do you want, Justin?"

"Look, I know you're still mad as hell at me because Jill sold me her Westar stock, but I had nothin' to do with that. I didn't ask for it, and I didn't want it."

"Well, there's somethin' you could do about that, little brother," John Ross says.  "Sell those shares to me and be done with it. You and Pamela can then live happily ever after, runnin' your record company or doin' whatever it is you wanna do.  So how 'bout it?  I'm offerin' you a way out of this, AGAIN.  Just sell me that stock."

"No, John Ross.  Jill sold that stock to me for a reason, and that reason was to keep you or Clay from gettin' it and startin' a war between Ewing Oil and Westar,"  Justin says as Pamela comes to the door and listens.

"You really think you're gonna be able to prevent a war between Ewing Oil and Westar by holdin' on to those shares?  If you believe that, then you're even dumber than I ever thought a son of J.R. Ewing's could possibly be."

"There's no use talkin' to you,"  says Justin.  "You wanna stay angry with me, go ahead.  I don't give a damn."  Justin turns and walks out of the foyer.

Pamela walks over to John Ross.  "How dare you treat him like that?  Justin is torn up over this enough.  Jill put him square in the middle of this whole mess.  Justin never asked to be put in the middle of this."

"He may have never asked to be put in the middle, but he has a choice of whether or not he stays there," John Ross says.  "I offered him a way out.  I made an offer to buy Jill's Westar stock from him and he flat out refused my offer.  So if your husband finds himself in the middle of a war between Ewing Oil and Westar, he put himself there.  And a word of warnin'... .........I intend to destroy Westar, and whoever gets in my way and ends up as collateral damage, so be it."

"Is that a threat, John Ross?"  Pamela asks.  "Because if it is, let me issue YOU a warning.  If my husband ends up collateral damage in some stupid war between you and Westar, I won't rest until I destroy you, any way I have to."

"If it's a war within this fam'ly that you want, Pamela, then I'll be more'n happy to accommodate you.  But you'd better be damned sure you're ready for the consequences before you make threats."

"Bring it on,"  Pamela angrily says.

John Ross looks at her for a second, then turns and heads up the stairs.  A moment later, he walks into his and Krystina's bedroom, where Krystina is getting dressed.

"Hi, sweetheart,"  Krystina says.

"Hey, darlin',"  John Ross says, greeting his wife with a kiss.

"How was your day?"

"It was great until I got home and found Justin and Pamela here."

"John Ross, are you still angry with Justin because of that Westar stock?"  Krystina asks.

"I offered to buy that stock from Justin but he flat out refused.  Now, Pamela is makin' threats."

"What kind of threats?"

"Never mind,"  John Ross replies.  "I'm tired of talkin' about my brother and that wife of his.  It's bad enough I'm gonna have to sit down with them to dinner."  John Ross walks over to the dresser and looks down, where he picks up a photo.  "Hey, where'd this come from?"  He asks, looking at the photo of himself, Sue Ellen, and J.R. when he was a small child.

"I found that old photo today when I was looking through an old album.  Where was this taken?  It doesn't look like it was here at Southfork."

"It was,"  John Ross says.  "This was taken right here in this bedroom."

"What?"  Krystina asks, taking the photo.  "John Ross, this doesn't look anything like our bedroom."

"This used to be my Mama and Daddy's bedroom back in the day.  It looked a lot different before Uncle Bobby decided to completely remodel the whole second floor of the house.  The door use to be over there on that wall, and the door to the bathroom use to be here, on the other side of the bed."

"I wonder why Bobby decided to redo all the rooms,"  says Krystina.

"Ah, who knows?  He did it after he married Ann."

"Well, I'm ready for dinner.  Are you gonna change?"

"Just my shirt.  I'll be ready in a minute,"  John Ross says, taking off his tie, then his shirt.

Krystina's cell phone rings on the bed.  Walking over to the bed, she picks the phone up and looks at it.  She smiles.  "Oh, my Mom,"  she says, then answers the call.  "Mom, hi.  No, you didn't.  John Ross and I were just getting ready to go downstairs for dinner with the family."

"Tell your mother I said hi,"  John Ross says.

"Mom, John Ross said hi.  Mom, what's wrong?  You sound kind of upset."  Krystina listens for a moment as her mother speaks to her on the other end of the line.  "Oh my God,"  Krystina says.  "When?  Oh, Mom, I'm so sorry.  Yes.  Yes, I'll be there.  Please, let me know about arrangements.  Mom, please tell Jackie how sorry I am, and that I'll see her soon.  I love you, too, Mom, and thanks for calling and letting me know.  I'll see you soon.  Bye."  Krystina ends the call and puts her phone down, fighting back tears.

John Ross walks over to her.  "Darlin' what's wrong?  What was that all about?"

"My Mom called to tell me that my Aunt Dominique, my father's half-sister, passed away this afternoon,"  Krystina says.

"Oh, no, Krystina, darlin', I'm so sorry.  I liked her, she was a nice lady.  I remember when she sang at our weddin'."

"I have to go to Denver,"  says Krystina.  "The funeral arrangements haven't been made yet, but the funeral will probably be in the next couple of days."

"Alright, I'll come with you.  Now that Mama's back from San Angelo, she can take over at Ewing Oil for me."

John Ross embraces Krystina as she cries.

Southfork....the next morning....

Bobby, Ann, Christopher, Courtney, Jacob, Michael, Lucy, and Alex are seated at the breakfast table on the patio the next morning when Lucas and Heather come out of the house.  "Mornin', everyone,"  Heather says.

Ann smiles upon seeing her.  "Heather, good mornin'."

"Heather, how are you feeling?" Bobby asks.

"A little better, thanks to a talk I had with Lucy the other day,"  Heather replies, taking a seat at the table.  "I figured it was time I rejoined the land of the livin'."

"Well, it sure is good to see you come out to breakfast again,"  says Courtney.

"Lucy, I don't know what you said to her, but thank you,"  Lucas says.

Lucy smiles.  "I really didn't do anything except share some of my own experience with her."

"Well, you really got me thinkin', Lucy,"  Heather says, looking over at Michael.  "Thinkin' about all the things I have to be thankful for.  So, I'm goin' to see Dr. Ryan Benson this afternoon."

"I'm really glad to hear that, Heather,"  says Christopher.  "If anyone can help you deal with this loss, it's Ryan."

John Ross comes out of the house.  "Mornin'," he says.

"John Ross, how's Krystina this morning?"  Bobby asks.

"Still upset,"  John Ross replies, taking his usual seat at the table.  "She didn't feel like comin' down to breakfast."

"Upset?"  Heather asks.

"Why, what happened?"  Asks Lucas.

"Krystina's Aunt Dominique died yesterday.  She's gonna be headin' to Denver this afternoon to be with her family.  I'll be flyin' there to join her tomorrow mornin'."

"I'm sorry to hear about Krystina's aunt,"  says Heather.

"If you need me to take over at Ewing Oil, I'll be more than happy to,"  Alex jokes.

"No thanks, your grandmother's gonna step in."

"Y'know, maybe it's time I got back to work at the office,"  says Christopher.  "I think I've taken enough time off. And it's not fair that John Ross has been shouldering all the burden of the company for the past couple months."

"And I was really enjoying having you around the house,"  Courtney says.

"Don't worry, I'll still be around a lot," Christopher says.

"Well, if you'll all excuse me, I have to get to the hospital,"  Lucy says.  "I have a full schedule this morning, and I'm meeting Mitch before."

"Lucy, why don't you invite Mitch and Daniel over for dinner tonight?"  Ann asks.

"I'll ask Mitch and I'm sure he'd love to come.  As for Daniel.......well, I kinda doubt it."

"Things still aren't any better between you and Mitch's son?"  Bobby asks.

"Unfortunately, no,"  replies.  "If anything, they've gotten worse.  Daniel just refuses to accept the fact that his father and I are together.  What a brat!  Anyway, I'll see you all this evening."

"Bye, Lucy, have a good day,"  Courtney says.

"I will, you, too,"  Lucy says, leaving.

As Lucy walks to her car, she passes Ricky, the new teenage ranch hand, as he is walking up to the house.  Ricky approaches the patio where the family is having breakfast.  "Excuse me, Mr. Ewing,"  the boy says.

"Oh, good morning, Ricky,"  Bobby says.  "What can we do for ya?"

"I'm sorry to disturb your breakfast, but Gavin sent me up to get you to sign this feed bill,"  Ricky says.

"Oh, of course,"  says Bobby, taking the piece of paper from the boy.

"Ricky, how's it goin'?"  Christopher asks.

"It's going fine, Mr, Ew....uh, Christopher."

"There ya go, Ricky,"  Bobby says, handing him the paper back.

"Thank you, Mr. Ewing."

"You're welcome."

"You all have a good day,"  Ricky says.

"Yeah, you, too, man,"  Christopher says as Ricky walks away.

"So that was the new hand?"  Lucas asks.

"Yeah, Ricky Hernandez,"  replies Bobby.

"Kinda young, itn't he?"  Asks John Ross.

"He's 17, and so far, he seems to be a real good worker.  I think Ricky's gonna work out just fine around here and  he'll be a welcome addition to Southfork,"  Bobby says.

Meanwhile, as Ricky is walking back toward the stables from the main house, he pauses and  looks back at the Ewing mansion.  From where he stands, he can see the family seated around the table having breakfast on the patio.  A look of anger comes over the young man's face as he watches the Ewings.  "Enjoy yourselves while you can, Ewing family,"  Ricky says quietly to himself.  "Soon, you will be mourning, just as I have mourned for what you took away from me."  Ricky turns and continues on toward the stables.

Justin's ranch....

Jimmy comes down the stairs that morning at Justin's ranch house, where he and Ashley are still living, and walks into the kitchen, where Ashley is setting the table for breakfast.  "Hey, somethin' smells good,"  he says.

"Sausages and cheese grits,"  Ashley says cheerfully.

"You're in a good mood this morning."

"Why shouldn't I be?  Mom and Evie are arriving today."

Jimmy smiles as he takes  a seat at the table.  "Yeah, I can't wait to see them, either.  It's been too long."

"And, I hope that this time, we can convince Mom to move back here and live with us."

"I sure hope so,"  says Jimmy.  "It'd be great to have our family together again."

"And besides, Mom has no reason not to move back to Dallas now.  After all, you and I are here.  So I'm gonna work on trying to convince her as soon as we pick her up from the airport."

"What time's her flight due in?"  Jimmy asks.

"2:00."

"Have you told her that you're dating Dylan?"

"I told her there was a very special guy in my life and that I can't wait for her to meet him."

"How do you think she'll feel about him?"

"She'll love hjm.  Just like I do,"  Ashley says.  "Jimmy, I know you've never liked the idea of me dating Dylan. But please, don't tell Mom that."

Jimmy sighs.  "Ash, there are a couple of reasons why I have a problem with you dating Dylan Ewing.  First of all, the guy's our COUSIN.  Do you know how weird that is?"

"DISTANT cousin, Jimmy.  Dylan and I are DISTANT cousins, it's not like we're first cousins or anything.  Besides, I didn't choose to fall in love with him, it just happened.  And if you even took the time to get to really know Dylan, you'd like him, Jimmy."

"Maybe. I have to admit, I don't think I've ever seen you as happy as I have these last few months since you and Dylan have been together.  And any guy who makes my little sister this happy.........is okay by me.  I do, however, wish that you could just once fall in love with a guy who doesn't share the same DNA."

Ashley looks at her brother and smiles.  "Ha ha, very funny, Adam Sandler.  Dylan does make me happier than I've ever been.  And I'm sure that Mom will see that, too."

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital....

That morning, Jimmy and Ashley's mother, Debra Lynn Beaumont, is sitting up in a hospital bed in a room at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, watching solemnly as a doctor looks over a lab report.  After finishing the report, the doctor lowers the paper he holds in his hand, and looks at Debra Lynn.

"Well, Dr. Curtis,"  Debra Lynn says.  "From the look on your face, I can guess what my test results are.  Not good?"

"I'm sorry, Debra Lynn," the doctor says.  "Our results are the same as the tests taken by your doctor in Boston."

Debra Lynn lowers her head and nods.  "I was afraid of that. I was just..........hoping.  Praying that there was a mistake and that these results would be different.  So,give it to me straight.  I want to know everything.  How bad is this?  What exactly am I looking at here?"

"Didn't your doctor in Boston go over this with you?"

"Yes, she did.  But I want to hear it from you,"  says Debra Lynn.

"As I'm sure you're aware, pancreatic cancer is one of the worst, mainly because, by the time you experience any symptoms, it's usually already advanced.  In your case, the cancer has spread to your liver."

"Isn't there anything.......I mean, any treatments that might........"

"I'm very sorry, Debra Lynn, but no,"  the doctor replies.  "We can try a regime of chemotherapy, but I can tell you that it won't help.  It might slow the cancer and give you another few days at best, but, the chemo would make you extremely sick and weak."

Debra Lynn throws back the covers and gets out of bed.  She walks to the window and looks out.  After a brief pause, she turns and looks at the doctor.  "How long do I have?" She asks, her voice shaky.

"A few months.  4, maybe 5."

"That would mean.......around Christmas?"  Debra Lynn asks, finally breaking down in tears.  "Dear God."

"I'm so sorry, Debra Lynn,"  the doctor says.  "I wish that there was something we could do, but with this particular cancer, it's very aggressive, and once it's spread to the liver......."

"I.........I understand,"  Debra Lynn says.  "I lost my husband just a little over a year ago."

"Oh, I'm very sorry, I had no idea."

"How do I tell my children that they're going to lose their mother so soon after losing their father?  Especially my youngest daughter?  Evie, she'll be 4-years-old on Christmas Eve.  That's why James and I named her Eve, because she was born on Christmas Eve."

"You told me that your two older children live here in Dallas, right?"  The doctor asks.

"Yes, that's right.  And speaking of which, if you've done all the tests you need to do, then I have to check myself out of here.  My children are expecting me to arrive today, so, I have to get out of this hospital and get to the airport."

"The airport?  I don't understand."

"Jimmy and Ashley think that I'm going to be arriving in Dallas this afternoon, so they're going to be picking me up at the airport.  So, I need to get to the airport, so they can pick me up."

"Alright.  But I would like to see you back here in a few days.  You can call my office for an appointment.  And Debra Lynn.......since your children live here in Dallas, my advice would be for you to remain here, where your family is, rather than going back to Boston alone."

Debra Lynn nods.

"I'll have your release papers prepared,"  the doctor says, then leaves the room.

After the doctor is gone, Debra Lynn walks over to the bed, takes a seat, and begins to cry.  A moment later, a young woman in her late 20s walks into the room.

"Debra Lynn?"  The young woman says.

"Victoria, where is Evie?"

"Don't worry, she's at the hotel with the sitter.  Debra Lynn, what did the doctor say?"

Debra Lynn looks at the young woman.  "Same thing the doctor in Boston said.  I have pancreatic cancer that's spread to my liver, and I only have a few months to live."

"Oh......my God,"  the young woman gasps, raising her hands to cover her mouth.

"Victoria, listen......no tears.  Not now.  I have to get out of this hospital, and prepare for my visit with my kids.  And somehow, I have to find a way to tell Jimmy and Ashley.......that I'm dying."

Victoria puts her arms around Debra Lynn and the two women embrace.

Catlin Oil....

"Catlin, thank you for agreeing to meet with me this morning,"  Donna Love says, meeting with Catlin in his office.

"Oh, it's no problem, Donna,"  Catlin replies, looking over some papers on his desk before him.

"I swear, I never would've imagined that things  had changed so much in the business world, but, I can't make heads or tails of these spreadsheets and reports."

"Well, these are fairly simple."

"Simple for you, perhaps.  But for me.....not so much.  I'm afraid I've just made a big mess, haven't I?"

"Nothing we can't fix, Donna."

"So, how was your little trip you took with Sue Ellen?"  Donna asks.

"Oh, it was wonderful."

"Where exactly was it you went?"

"San Angelo,"  Catlin replies.  "Sue Ellen owns a ranch there that was left to her by Dusty Farlow in his will."

"Dusty Farlow?" Donna asks.  "Why does that name sound vaguely familiar?"

"He and Sue Ellen were involved.  In fact, they almost got married."

"Really?  And you said that this.......Dusty Farlow.......left this ranch to Sue Ellen in his will?"

"Yes, that's right,"  says Catlin.

"Then he's......deceased?"

"Yes."

"He must have loved Sue Ellen very much to have left her his ranch,"  says Donna.

"Yes, from what I understand, he did."

"So, why didn't they get married?"

Catlin looks at her and sighs.  "It's a long story.  Donna, why all these questions about my wife and her former boyfriend?"

"No reason.  I'm sorry, I was just making polite conversation, that's all.  I mean, I think it would be nice if Sue Ellen and I got to know one another better.  After all, her grandson Alex IS dating my granddaughter Bridget."

"Uh-huh,"  Catlin says, returning his attention to the reports on his desk.

"Alex is a very nice young man,"  says Donna.

"Yes, he is,"  Catlin says as someone knocks on his door.  "Come in."

C.J. walks into the office.  "Dad......oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were busy."

"Hello, C.J.,"  Donna says.

"Ms. Love, how are you?"

"I'm doing just fine."

"Son, what can I do for you?"  Catlin asks.

"I was wondering if we could have a word, but, if you're busy......."

"No, it's fine,"  says Donna.  "Listen, Catlin, I'll step out for a while, and you and C.J. can talk.  I'll just go back up to my office, I have some things I can take care of there until you're finished."

"Alright, Donna, if you're sure," Catlin says.

"I am.  Just, umm, call me when you're done."

"I will,"  Catlin says as Donna leaves.  "Well, what's on your mind, son?"

"I just wanted to give you a heads up, Dad,"  says C.J.  "There may be some rough weather ahead as far as The Cartel is concerned."

"Meaning what?"

"While you were gone, John Ross purposely excluded me from at least 3 very important meetings of The Cartel.  I finally got fed up with it, and I met with Brandon Harwood, and Jason and Jordan Lee.  We decided that The Cartel needs to hold a vote and officially elect a leader, especially since John Ross has been abusing his power as The Cartel's unofficial leader."

"I think that's a good idea,"  says Catlin.  "I never did like the idea of John Ross acting as leader of The Cartel.  I'd always hoped that Bobby would return to Ewing Oil soon and take over that role.  But it looks like Bobby's gonna be out of the office for a while longer, at least until after Katherine Wentworth's trial is over."

"Well, like I said, I just wanted to give you a heads up,"  C.J. says.  "The Cartel is meeting this afternoon, and bringing this up.  John Ross is gonna be pretty angry, I'm sure, and, I didn't want this to cause any problems for you and Sue Ellen."

"Don't worry, it won't.  You're doing the right thing, C.J."

"You wanna come to the meeting with me?"  C.J. asks.

"No, actually, I think that, because John Ross is involved, I should probably stay away."

"Yeah, maybe you're right.  If you're not involved, then you and Sue Ellen won't be dragged into the middle of this."

Klyde Warren Park in Dallas....later....

"Thank you,"  Pamela says, getting her change back from the cashier after paying for her chicken strip basket meal at the food truck at Klyde Warren Park at lunch time that day.  Taking their lunch, Pamela and Brad walk over to a table nearby and take seats.  Brad unwraps his hot dog from the piece of foil it's wrapped in.  "Boy this looks good,"  he says.  "I'm hungry.  I was running late this morning, and I didn't get to have breakfast."

"I'm kind of hungry myself.  We could have gone to an actual restaurant, you know."

"Nah, this is just fine,"  Brad says.  "I love these hot dogs from Bubba's stand."

"More and more, you remind me of our father,"  says Pamela.

Brad smiles.  "Well, thank you, I'll take that as a compliment."

"I really miss him."

"So do I,"  Brad says.  "Seems like I miss him more every day, especially now.  I could really use some of Cliff's business advice."

"Why, what's going on?"  Pamela asks.

"Oh, nothing, just could use some of Cliff's advice concerning some Westar business."

"Hmmm.......Westar,"  Pamela says.  "How I wish I could go just ONE day without having to hear that name."

"Well, I hate to break this to you, sis,"  Brad says, taking a bite of his hot dog.  "But that's not likely to happen, especially now that your husband is a part of the company."

"Justin's not a part of Westar."

"He's a major stockholder, Pamela, and that MAKES him a part of Westar."

"God, I could absolutely KILL Jill for putting Justin in the middle of this."

"Well, there is a way out, provided Justin would be willing to take it,"  Brad says.

"Oh?  And what would that be?"

"Justin could sell his stock."

"Sell it?"  Pamela asks.

"Yeah.  I mean, why hang on to shares of a company he has no stake in and no ties to?  He could sell the stock and be done with it."

"Sell it to WHO?  He'd never sell to Shawn because Jill didn't want Shawn to get his hands on those shares, and Justin would never go against his sister's wishes."

"Okay, then, how about me?"  Brad asks.

"You?"

"Yeah.  I'm willing to take that stock off your husband's hands, if he'll give me a fair price."

"And then what?  You turn around and sell it to Shawn?"

"No. My offer to buy Justin's shares has nothing to do with Shawn.  I want those shares for myself."

"Why, Brad?"  Pamela asks.  "And where are you gonna get the money to buy those shares?"

"Just let me worry about that.  Will you at least take Justin the offer?"

"Yes, I will."

Brad smiles at her.

The Carrington mansion in Denver....afternoon....

Carrying baby Ellie, Krystina walks into the beautiful and elegant Carrington mansion just outside of Denver that afternoon.  Walking into the mansion, she looks around, immediately flooded by happy memories of her years growing up in this magical place.  The Carrington maid walks into the foyer.

"Miss Krystina, hello," the maid says.

"Hello, Barbara, how are you?"

"Just fine.  We weren't expecting you this early."

"I decided to come a little earlier.  I flew to Denver on the Ewing jet."

"I'll let your mother know you're here,"  Barbara says.

"Thank you, Barbara,"  Krystina says.  She walks down the hall and into the living room, where she looks around the room.  Her eyes fall on a photo sitting on a table, a photo of her as a small child with her parents.  She walks

over to the table and picks up the photo. "Look at that,"  she says to Ellie.  "See that little girl?  That's me, Ellie.  And that is your Grandma and Grandpa Carrington.  That was a long time ago, yes it was.  Those were some happy times.  I had a very happy childhood here, growing up with your cousins, L.B., Danny, and Lauren.  Maybe we'll get to see them while we're here.  Wouldn't that be nice?"

"Krystina, my darling,"  Krystle Carrington says, walking into the room.

Krystina puts down the photo and greets her mother with a hug.  "Mom, it's so good to see you."

"It's wonderful to see you, too, and my little sweetheart,"  Krystle says, taking her granddaughter in her arms.  "Hello, Ellie. Hello, my darling."

"Can you say 'hi, Grandma'?"  Krystina asks the child.

Little Ellie says something inaudible, and Krystle laughs.  "Did John Ross come with you?"

"No, he had some business in Dallas this afternoon, but he'll be flying up tomorrow morning."

"Oh, good, I can't wait to see him.  And I'm happy to see you, too.  I only wish it were under different circumstances."

"So do I,"  says Krystina.  "Mom, I'm so sorry about Aunt Dominique.  What exactly happened?"

"Dominique was visiting for a few days.  She was to perform at a show at the Denver Hilton ballroom tonight.  We were having a very nice visit, and she said she was feeling very tired.  So, I suggested she go upstairs and lie down for a while.  When she didn't come down after a couple of hours, I sent Barbara up to check on her, and....... and Dominique had passed away in her sleep.  The  doctor said that he's sure it was a heart attack, and  that she died peacefully."

"Mom, I'm so sorry, that must have been awful for you.  I know how close you and Aunt Dominique were, especially since Daddy died."

"I'll miss her terribly,"  Krystle says.  "The funeral will be day after tomorrow."

"I can't believe she's really gone."

"Neither can I.  Well, you must be very tired.  Come on, let's get you and my beautiful granddaughter settled, and then we can have a nice visit."

Krystina nods, then she and Krystle leave the room, Krystle carrying little Ellie.

Ewing Oil....afternoon....

John Ross is working at his desk when Sly buzzes his office.  "John Ross, the members of The Cartel are here."

"Okay, thank ya, Sly.  Send them in."  Standing to his feet, John Ross walks to the bar, where he pours himself a drink.

A moment later, Sly walks into the office, followed by Peter Ellis, Brandon Harwood, Samantha Chambers, C.J. Ewing, and Jason and Jordan Lee.

"Can I get anything for any of you?"  Sly asks.

"I wouldn't care for anything, honey, thank ya,"  says Peter Ellis.

"I think we're all fine, Sly,"  John Ross says.  Sly nods and leaves the office.  "Well, fix you all a drink?"  John Ross asks.

"No, thanks, John Ross,"  replies Brandon.

"I believe I'll have one," Samantha says.  "Scotch, please."

"Comin' right up."  John Ross pours a glass of scotch from his bar and hands it to Samantha.  "Now, then, why was this emergency meeting called?"

"I'd like to know the answer to that, myself," Peter says.

"From the time this Cartel was formed, we've been somewhat of a loose organization,"  Brandon says.  "We've been very informal."

"And?  What's your point?"  John Ross asks.

"Some of us have been talking, and we feel that it's time we made The Cartel slightly more......official, and business like,"  replies C.J.  "We think it's time The Cartel had a set of bylaws, and an official leader."

"An official leader?"  John Ross asks.  "Well, since Ewing Oil is the largest company in The Cartel, and since we were instrumental in forming The Cartel, whoever is president of Ewing Oil should serve as head of this organization, and at the moment, that person is me."

"John Ross, we want a leader that we ALL choose,"  says Brandon.

"Yes, one that's democratically elected,"  C.J. says.  "So, therefore, we're going to hold an election."

"And how in the hell are we gonna go about this?"  Asks Peter.

"We choose two candidates,"  replies C.J.  "Then we vote, and whichever candidate has the most votes, will become the official head of The Cartel."

"Overlookin' somethin', aren't you?"  John Ross asks.  ''All members of The Cartel are not present.  My Uncle Bobby, my mother, and my cousin Christopher are not here."

"And neither is your father, C.J.,"  Samantha says.

"Well, we could do this another way,"  says Brandon.  "There are 5 companies represented in The Cartel......Ewing Oil, Harwood Oil, Ellis Oil, Chambers Oil, and Lee Energies.  Each company would get one vote, rather than having all individual members present to vote."

"But that wouldn't be fair,"  Samantha says.  "Unless of course one of the Lee boys is willin' to abstain from voting, since there are two of them here from their company, and only one person present from all the other companies in The Cartel."

"Then I propose that we hold off on this vote until all 11 members of The Cartel are present,"  John Ross says.

"I agree with John Ross,"  Peter says.  "The vote should be held off until all members of The Cartel are here."

"Alright, that's fine,"  Brandon says.

"Okay, shall we plan another meeting for Monday morning?  10 A.M.?"  C.J. asks.

"That works for me,"  Samantha says.

"Yeah, me, too,"  says Peter.

"That's fine by us,"  Jason Lee says.  "John Ross?"

"Monday at 10 works for me, too,"  John Ross replies.  "So, who are we gonna nominate for this role as head of The Cartel?  I, for one, would like to nominate myself."

"Why does  that not surprise me?"  C.J. asks.

"I second John Ross's nomination of himself as head of The Cartel,"  Samantha says.  "He's been doing a great job so far."

"That's a matter of opinion,"  C.J. says.

"Okay, so John Ross is in the runnin',"  says Peter. "Who's gonna be our second candidate?"

"Well, how about you, Pete?"  Jason asks.  "After all, other than Bobby Ewing, you've been in the oil business longer than most of us in this room have been alive, so who better to lead us?"

Peter smiles.  "Well, I appreciate that, son, but, I don't think so.  I, for one, can't think of anybody I'd rather have as head of The Cartel than Bobby Ewing himself."

"That's a great idea, actually,"  says Brandon. "John Ross, you think your uncle would be interested?"

"I highly doubt it.  Uncle Bobby has been spendin' more and more time at the ranch dealin' with personal issues of late, and with Katherine Wentworth's trial comin' up, he's gonna be out of the office even longer because I know for a fact he's gonna wanna be there every single day until the end of that trial to see that psycho put away for life."

"Well, how about you, C.J.?"  Jason asks.  "This whole thing was, after all, YOUR idea."

"I second that,"  says Brandon.  "I personally have no interest in the role of leader myself, but I think C.J. would make a great leader."

"Well, thank you,"  C.J. says  with a smile.  "I accept."

"Okay, then,"  Peter says.  "So, we all meet back here Monday mornin' at 10 and hold an official vote."

"And may the best Ewing win,"  says Brandon.

"Oh, I can assure you........the best Ewing WILL win,"  John Ross says, angrily looking at C.J.

"Damn right,"  C.J. says, returning John Ross's angry gaze as the two cousins prepare to face off, both seeking to become top dog in The Cartel.

John Ross's office....a short time later....

John Ross pours himself another glass of bourbon after the members of The Cartel have left his office.  As he takes a sip of the bourbon, Sly buzzes his office.

"John Ross, Samantha Chambers is back to see you again,"  Sly says.

Not really in the mood to see anyone, John Ross sighs deeply.  "Damn," he says quietly to himself.  "Alright, Sly, send her in."

A moment later, Samantha walks into the office.  "I'll have one of those, if you don't mind,"  she says.

"Scotch?"

"This time......I'll have some of that bourbon."

John Ross reluctantly pours Samantha a glass of his bourbon and hands it to her.  "I thought you left with the rest of The Cartel."

"I did, but, I decided to come back so that we could talk privately."

"Talk about what?"  John Ross asks.

"About this ridiculous election.  What do you think your chances are?"

"I think my chances are  pretty damned good.  C.J. Ewing doesn't have a chance."

"Oh, I wouldn't be too sure of that, John Ross," Samantha says.  "Let's see.......I know you're gonna vote for yourself, and I'm sure you can count on your mother's vote, and probably your uncle's.  Your cousin Christopher.........that's a big maybe.  Peter Ellis is likely in your corner, but chances are Brandon and at least Jason Lee will vote for C.J., as will his father.  Jordan, I'm not so sure about."

"Oh, trust me, darlin', I've got Jordan's vote for sure."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Let's just say, where Jordan Lee is concerned, I have ways of bein' real persuasive."

Samantha smiles.  "Meanin' you're blackmailin' him with somethin'.  Okay, so, let's just say you have your own vote, your Mama's, Bobby's, Christopher's, Peter's, and Jordan's."

"And what about you, Samantha?"  John Ross asks.  "Can I count on your vote?"

Samantha smiles.  "Oh, yes, John Ross.  You can definitely count on my support, not only in this election, but, I'll vote your way on other issues, as well. Of course, I'm gonna want a little somethin' for myself in return for my undyin' loyalty and support."

"And just what might that be?"  John Ross asks.

Samantha moves closer to him  Looking him in the eye, she smiles, places her hand on the back of John Ross's head, and pulls him into a passionate kiss.  After a few seconds, she pulls out of the kiss and looks at him.  "You. I want YOU, John Ross."

"Well, I'm sorry, Samantha, but I'm already taken.  I'm a very happily married man."

"John Ross, I don't wanna marry you,"  Samantha says.  "I just want you in my bed on occasion.  Just sex, nothin' more."

"I will not do anything to jeopardize my marriage to Krystina."

"Your wife never has to find out, and what she doesn't know.......won't hurt her.  Didn't I hear you say durin' the meeting that she's out of town tonight?  A death in her family, or somethin'?"  Samantha reaches into her pocket and pulls out a key, and a small, folded piece of paper.  "Since your wife is gone for the night, here's the key to my apartment.  Drop by tonight, anytime after 6, and we'll discuss just how valuable an ally I can be to you in The Cartel."  Samantha kisses him again.  "I'll be expectin' you," she says seductively, then turns and leaves the office.

After she's gone, John Ross looks down at the key in his hand, and the paper on which Samantha's address is written.

Justin's ranch....

Jimmy, Ashley, and Debra Lynn walk into Justin's ranch house that afternoon, Jimmy carrying his mother's bags, and Debra Lynn carrying Jimmy and Ashley's little sister, Eve.  "Mom, you must be exhausted after that flight," Jimmy says.

"Oh, I am a little tired, but, I'm okay,"  says Debra Lynn.  "I'm just happy to be here."

"I'll bet you're not as glad as we are to have you and Evie here,"  Ashley says.

"Mom, you really do look tired,"  Jimmy says.  "Why don't you go upstairs and take a nap before dinner?  I'll take care of Evie."

"I think I will."

"Mom, are you sure you're okay?"  Ashley asks.

"I'm fine, sweetheart,"  Debra Lynn says.  "Just tired from the trip, and I haven't been sleeping very well lately.  All the excitement, I guess."

"Well, you go on up and get some rest,"  Ashley says.  "I'll have dinner ready by the time you get up."

"You sure you don't want me to help you, sweetheart?"

"No, thanks."

"Mom, you'll be pleased,"  says Jimmy.  "Your daughter has become quite a good cook."

Debra Lynn smiles.  "Well, I'll just go on up and rest for a while before dinner.  Ashley, if you need any help, just yell."

"Don't worry about that, Mom.  I have dinner covered.  You just go upstairs and get some rest, and I'll wake you when it's ready.  And I can't wait for you to meet Dylan tomorrow.  I just know you're gonna love him."

"The way you've been praising him, I look forward to getting to know the young man who's stolen my daughter's heart,"  Debra Lynn says.  "Evie, would you like to come upstairs and take a nap with Mommy?"

The little girl nods her head.

"Okay, come on, baby,"  Debra Lynn says, taking her daughter by the hand.

"I'll bring your bags on up, Mom,"  says Jimmy.

"Alright, darling,"  Debra Lynn says, going up the stairs with Evie.

"Isn't it great to have Mom and Evie here?"  Ashley asks.  "Now that she's here, we're gonna have to convince her to stay."

"Ash, do you think Mom's really okay?"  Jimmy asks.

"What do you mean?"

"She just doesn't seem like herself."

"Well, she said she was tired from the trip, and she hasn't been sleeping."

"I dunno, Ash, something seems different......OFF......about her.  She almost seems like she's about to burst into tears at any moment."

"She just misses Daddy,"  says Ashley.  "It's probably hard for her, being back here after Daddy was killed just a little over a year ago.  By tomorrow, after she's had a good night's sleep, she'll be fine.  You'll see.  I'm gonna go start dinner."  Ashley walks out of the room.

Jimmy sighs. "I hope you're right," he says quietly.

Samantha Chambers's apartment....later....

John Ross steps off the elevator on the 9th floor of one of Dallas's exclusive apartment buildings that evening as darkness begins to fall over the city.  He pauses for a brief moment, looks at the paper in his hand Samantha had given him earlier, then slowly walks up to the door of an apartment down the hall.  Meanwhile, inside the apartment, Samantha is in her bedroom, dressed in a sexy nightgown adjusting her hair when the doorbell rings.  She smiles.  Picking up a bottle of perfume from her dresser, she sprays some on, then leaves the bedroom.  Making her way through the living room, Samantha opens the door to her visitor.

"John Ross,"  she says.  "I knew you'd come."

"Awfully sure of yourself, aren't you, Ms. Chambers?"  John Ross asks.

Samantha smiles as she moves closer to John Ross and places her hands on his chest.  "No, but I'm awfully sure of you. We're a lot alike, John Ross.  We both know what we want, and we're not afraid to go after it,"  Samantha says, and the two begin kissing passionately.

The Carrington mansion, Denver.....

Krystle Carrington is sitting in front of the fireplace in the library of the Carrington mansion sipping on a cup of hot tea and looking over some old family photos.  As she looks through the photo album, her mind travels back in time to a meeting she had many years ago with her late husband's half-sister, Dominique Devereaux....

"Mom?  Mom?"  Krystina's voice from the doorway snaps Krystle back to the present.

"Oh, Krystina, I'm sorry, darling, I didn't hear you come in."

"No, you were a million miles away."

"I was just thinking about Dominique,"  Krystle says.

"Well, I was just gonna tell you that I got Ellie down to sleep, and I'm about to head up to bed myself.  I'm pretty tired, and I wanna call John Ross before I go to sleep."

"Alright,"  Krystle says, standing.  "I think I'll go up to bed early myself.  These next couple of days are going to be long, and very difficult.  And I think I'll look in on my beautiful granddaughter first."

Krystina smiles.  "Goodnight, Mom,"  she says, kissing her mother on the cheek.  "I'll see you in the morning."

"Goodnight, darling."

Krystina walks outof  the library.  She goes down the long hall to the stairway and heads upstairs.  A couple of minutes later, she walks into her bedroom, and takes out her cell phone.  Walking over to the bed, she takes a seat,

and dials John Ross's number.  She sits back and waits for an answer.  John Ross's phone rings several times, but there is no answer.  Krystina ends the call and sighs.  She waits a few seconds, then dials her husband's number a second time.  "Come on, John Ross, answer your phone,"  she says.

Meanwhile....

As John Ross's cell phone vibrates on a table across the room, he and Samantha are busy making passionate love.

Krystina continues to wait for an answer, completely unaware of what her husband is doing....

John Ross is a scumbag especially when his wife is in Denver when he dad's sister passed away I understand his need for power but I think he is being setup by samantha chambers I doubt Justin will sell his weststar shares to Brad when he wouldn't to John Ross I actually want him to keep them and stick it to John Ross

aw damnit why did john ross have to go and do that? I thought his cheating days were over, smh. And I remember after his affair with brittney kristina told him that if he ever cheats on her again they're done, and we know she'll eventually find out of course. This is not good

Great start for a new season. John Ross is just like JR. Does anything to get his way including cheating. Someone will pay when Christina finds out.

It's wonderful to be back for the new season, John. I can already see that the Cartell will play an important part in this season. I think Justin is fooling himself if he thinks he can keep out of the Ewing-Westar conflict. The stocks put him right in the middle of it. There will be numerous clashes between Pamela and John Ross, especially now that Brad is also interested in those stocks. Loved the hot dog scene by the way, reminded me of Cliff! ;) How is Afton dealing with losing Cliff? Has she read Cliff's letter yet?

Sorry John, I really love your writing, but I could not read any further when I started to read about John Ross affair with Samantha. I know he is a bad boy, but I really loved his caring and respect for Kristina. Totally disappointed.

Linda, this is Dallas. Even after JR was faithful to Sue Ellen for a while he started cheating on her again. I haven’t read this episode yet. I didn’t know the new season started. However, I trust John to know what he is doing. I hope you don’t stop reading!! He puts a lot of time and effort into his episodes. As someone who started writing almost a year ago I appreciate his time, efforts, and loyalty to Dallas even more. Even the original series had plots not all fans agreed with. Just saying. This is is a soap opera.

    Nikki (Monday, 14 October 2019 14:02)

Hmm...the Ewing family took something from him. I am wondering if he isn't one of Nicolas Treviño's sons. That would make an interesting twist. Great job on the new season!

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 15:45)

I know everybody is dissapointed in John Ross. I am too but when you are married, you have kids, and everything, you get stale, boring, and predictable. Also Timmy, you might be right, Samantha Chambers might be setting up John Ross at the hands of Brad Barnes. But right now there is zero evidence that says there is a connection between these two people, and everything. And guys, give John Ross a break. He’s been a faithful, loving father and husband for 2 or 3 years. This is all just business. Just like his affair with Emma, he was just using her to become president of the cartel. That’s it. He doesn’t love Samantha Chambers not one bit! When was JR ever a loving husband to Sue Ellen? He never was like EVER! Again, once he’s done with her, this little affair will be over and he won’t do it again.

  • #18

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 15:56)

It’s obvious John Ross and Krystina need something to put the spark back in their marriage. Maybe a candlelight dinner, intimate conversation, good lovemaking, the whole nine, ten yards. That’s what they need. But every good story has drama. John is right, if everybody was always on their best behavior, that would be the Brady Bunch, not Dallas. And John Ross even though has been a loving father and husband, he was a bad boy before he met Krystina. And no matter what, women are always going to be attracted to bad boys. Take JR for example. He was a bad boy, and Sue Ellen loved him with all her heart. No matter how many women he slept with or threw themselves at JR, she always loved him no matter what. He loved her back, just he didn’t know how to express it that’s all.

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 16:12)

I mean I love crime dramas. Because it has good drama in it, high-speed chases, guns, fights, and so on. And the same goes for every soap opera. Drama is really good and interesting. But I think when John Ross gets what he wants, he will stop sleeping with Ms. Chambers for good. He wants power and I can understand that. He’s tired of being the fourth wheel when it comes to Ewing Oil. And I don’t blame him at all. Somebody would get tired of being the fourth wheel in a company.

  • #20

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 16:38)

Linda, this is Dallas. All the great soap operas have drama! If there would be no drama, there would be no story. Now John Ross has been a loving and faithful friend for 2 years. He repeatedly tried turning Ms. Chambers down and everything. He told her he was happily married. So it wasn’t like he told her yes in a heartbeat. She had to be persistent. The old John Ross wouldn’t have said anything like this when he was married before and didn’t. So even though he’s having this little affair, he turned her down, so there’s that. I think once he becomes the President of the Cartel, he won’t have any use for her.

  • #21

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 16:49)

Nikki, I have no idea what the Ewings took from Ricky. It would be a great twist if he turned out to be Nicholas Trevinos sons. The only person he can mad with is Christopher. Christopher is the one who killed him but it was clearly in self-defense, not a premeditated murder. Let’s find out at the end of the day.

  • #22

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 17:03)

Verena, I think Justin is fooling himself too. All that Westar stock puts him SMACK DAB right in the middle of this war between Ewing Oil-Westar. Shawn and John Ross, and now that Brad is at Westar, I agree, there are definitely going to be future clashes between John Ross and Pamela for sure. One for that’s his sister, two Pamela is Justin’s wife so she’s going to be involved in every aspect of his life. And three because John Ross and Pamela just don’t like each other at all.

  • #23

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 17:17)

Yeah right Brad! You can’t afford all that stock right now and everything so there is no way you are getting that stock. Plus you work at Westar with Shawn Smith. And his days are numbered anyway because I have no doubt that John Ross is going to use the fact that Andrew Murray is his real father against him someway or somehow.

  • #24

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 17:29)

Emma got off really lucky at the end of the day, and everything. 3 years jail time and 3 years probation. That makes really good sense at the end of the day, and everything. But Emma is going to need to start telling the truth to some people. She owes a huge apology to not only Lucas, but her mother and Bobby for putting them through this. Their marriage was seriously tested when it comes to all this baby drama.

  • #25

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 17:47)

I definitely understand why Ann is crying. Guilt over this whole entire thing! Guilt over what Emma did to Lucas, guilt over keeping Emma’s secret for her, lying to Lucas, and of course her lying to Bobby. The fact that Tripp McKay had to be the one to tell both of them that Lucas was the father of his son, and Ann knew had to be a shock.

  • #26

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 18:07)

CJ definitely going to be a thorn in John Ross side but if John Ross becomes Cartel leader, he can’t do nothing about it at the end of the day. To me CJ is just too nice to be in the oil business at the end of the day, and everything. John Ross was meant for this business. His father mastered it.

  • #27

    Derek Mathews (Monday, 14 October 2019 18:13)

I definitely can’t wait for the Katherine Wentworth trail to begin at the end of the day, and everything. There is going to be so much tension in that courtroom when the Ewings see Katherine Wentworth.

  • #28

    Verena (Tuesday, 15 October 2019 07:00)

Derek, and just think, the Barnes family will also be present at the trial: Afton, Pamela, Brad. I don't think that Katherine will speak kindly of Cliff. So there could be dynamite in that as well. Isn't it funny that the Ewings and the Barnes might finally find something to agree on, their hate towards Katherine? LOL I still can't shake the feeling that hotshot lawyer of hers has got something up his sleeve.

  • #29

    Derek Mathews (Tuesday, 15 October 2019 10:59)

Yeah they sure will! The Barnes and the Ewings FINALLY and I do mean finally agree on something. I’m not a big fan of Cliff Barnes or his son, but you are right. I know Katherine is going to bash Cliff the whole time, and I can just imagine the things she’s going to say about both families! Katherine is asking for too much, there is no way that hotshot lawyer can get her off. I mean attempted murder alone is 25 years to life in prison LOL! There’s no way she’s getting out of that. Like seriously? Can you imagine the testimonies people from both families are going to give regarding their history with this evil woman! And trust me, both famalies will get their chance to show the jury what kind of woman Katherine is.

  • #30

    Rose Meisenhelder (Tuesday, 15 October 2019 19:25)

I wonder what Austin will have to say if he takes the stand. Yes, he does love his mother, but I think he's also aware that she is a sociopath and if she's ever free, all she will do is harm.

  • #31

You are so right Rose. I forgot ALL about Austin, and then Jonathan too, Katherine’s sons. They might be at the trail too. Geez Louise! This trail is setting up to the biggest and most high-profile trail ever. I mean I don’t know when that child custody case was, about three or four years ago or something. The Ewings went up against the Channings and the Barnes family. And that was pretty damn high-profile. But this trail may be even bigger than that one.

That child custody case between John Ross Ewing and between the famalies was really good, but it was really personal for John Ross because Elena was suing him for custody of their child. It’s the first time the Ewings as a family ever crossed paths with that snake Richard Channing.

I'm really disappointed in John Ross in regards to him cheating on Krystina but i'm wondering if just like his father John Ross can't stay faithful to just one woman.Plus maybe John Ross thinks sleeping with Samantha is just business and has nothing to do with his marriage or family. Also i'm wondering how Alex might feel when he finds out John Ross cheated since it might cause him to see his dad in a new and unflattering light.
Also i'm wondering if Katherine's lawyer will call Austin to the stand because even though he may know getting Katherine off her charges is a long shot maybe he would want to show that Katherine does have some good points in terms of been a good mother to Austin. Also i have a feeling that Katherine's trial will be high profile since it could have an impact on most of the characters on the show in one way or another.

It would be great to see Katherine get out of prison so she can create more havoc. Her and Emma can escape from prison together and team up while on the run. Then they can hire Tommy Lee Jones to hunt them down.

Look Andrew Hass, that’s the controversial part about the ending that got everybody in such an uproar. Anyway remember this is Dallas. There is going to be drama in it. Second, JR had so many affairs on Sue Ellen it wasn’t even funny. Third, at least give John Ross some credit here. Outside of two affairs, he’s been a very faithful and loving husband and father and everything for 2 years. And fourth, John Ross actually turned this woman Samantha Chambers down at least three or maybe four times before he gave in. So I realize John Ross has a history of cheating but to be honest, compared to his father JR, he’s been way more faithful than his father has. He lasted 2 years. His father wouldn’t have even lasted a week being faithful to Sue Ellen. And well Alex might not like what John Ross did. But Brads plan was to destroy John Ross marriage and his relationship with his son so he could be doing that with this single action. We will see. Maybe Samantha Chambers and Brad Barnes are connected. Again, we will see. I hate to burst your bubble but Katherine Wentworth is a terrible mother. I mean let’s see. She lied to Austin about his father for 22 years. She aided and abated the crimes of her criminal children. She told her child’s father that Austin was stillborn. She abandoned her oldest son Jonathan Lord. She never told Austin about his other brothers. Katherine Wentworth has done terrible things to any woman that has gotten close to Bobby. She tried to run over her own sister and ran over Bobby instead. She tried killing him at least twice. I mean between Pam, Jenna, and Ann, she’s done terrible things to all three of them. She’s done terrible things TO BOTH the Ewing and Barnes family. No way Katherine gets off for all the stuff she has done. She’s delusional.

Nice try David but the chance of Katherine and Emma getting out is 0%! Emma is going to be in jail for 3 years and Katherine is going to be in jail for life. I do remember Tommy Lee Jones in a couple of Thriller movies, like Double Jeopardy starring Alicia Judd. And the other movie starring Wesley Snipes. He was excellent in both.

"She tried to run over her own sister and ran over Bobby instead"
Derek, that was part of Pam's dream, it didn't happen.

@Derek Matthews Did i say John Ross hasn't been a faithful and loving husband and father to Krystina and to his kids?Plus i'm not comparing John to his dad because i think John Ross has been a better husband and father than JR ever was but that been said i wonder if John Ross is self-destructive in a way in that he can't be 100% happy in his life.Plus i do wonder if Brad is somehow connected to Samantha and if so i'm wondering if Brad is not targeting John Ross's marriage but John Ross's relationship with Alex.Maybe Brad in his grief over his own dad's death wants to destroy John Ross's relationship with his son.
As for Katherine and her upcoming trial, i could see Cass calling Austin to the stand because he may not have much to work with in trying to defend Katherine. So Cass may have to pull out every trick and that may include putting people on the stand that may not exactly help Katherine but show that other people may not be exactly innocent either. For example i'm wondering if Cass might bring up the fact that Bobby let Katherine go all those years ago after Pam's car accident to show that Bobby could have Katherine arrested back then but he didn't and if he had maybe things would have been different.Plus i don't know how many of the other characters know that Bobby let Katherine go all those years ago and so some characters could be in for a shock when they find out.

I can’t believe John Ross fell for that Chambers woman, who by the way reminds me of Holly Hardwood! That woman doesn’t want John Ross “once in awhile“, she’s going to control him. And he’s too sex crazed to see it! He’s playing with half a deck to jeopardize his marriage, it will cost him his kids, and Chambers will make sure Krystina finds out!! Not to mention falling for Adam Carrington’s scheme, he’s headed for a big downfall! I hate Debra Lynn is going through this, with such a young child too! So happy Lucy could help Heather!! Justin should keep his shares in Weststar until he’s ready to unload them! Great story John!!

John, a great start to another season. Since John Ross will be in Denver, will Adam reveal their secret deal to Kristina or will Alexis? Episode 208 is out there, time to get started on it. Keep up the good work!

I finally got around to reading this episode. I apologize I took so long!!! Staying busy writing among other things I started slacking. Great episode as the rest of them!! I'm anxious to know what Krystina will do once she somehow finds out John Ross had a brief fling. Just like JR using business as an excuse to justify infidelity. I agree Krystina could double cross her husband by revealing the deal with Colby Co. I'm glad Emma got a lighter sentence!!! Even though she did some horrible things, she is not a cold-hearted and psychotic killer like Katherine. As judge pointed out she did show remorse! I think she had a very bad habit of acting on impulse and becoming panicky without thinking of the consequences. I think some time in prison will break her of that habit. I have found online something called impulsive disorder. I won't if that applies to Emma. I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes!!!
